Wilbur POV
The next few days went smoothly, apart from the tension of Wilbur and Techno. They found themselves hating Tommy more and more as he got more and more attention from Phil. In their minds he was part of the problem.
"How long will you be gone?" Wilbur questioned, handing Phil his sword.
Phil seemed to think for a moment before grabbing the sword from Wil's hands. "I should be back by nightfall. Please for my sake, don't kill each other. And be nice to Tommy, alright?"
Techno rolled his eyes, saying nothing. "Alright." Wilbur spoke for both of them.
Phil opened the door, swinging his bag over his shoulder. "Be safe boys."
"We will be." Techno grunted, moving back into the house and leaving Wilbur and Phil alone.
"I'm serious Wilbur."
"What?" Wilbur glanced at him, confusion shining in his eyes.
"Leave the poor kid alone. We don't know what he's been through." Phil raised an eyebrow. "We can't blame the world on him. He doesn't deserve that."
I can and I will, Wilbur thought. He turned to his father nodding, "Stay safe Dad."
Phil smiled, "I will. I'll be back before you know it. Think about what I said." Then he turned, disappearing into the woods.
Wilbur watched for a moment before retreating inside. He was met with Techno pacing in the kitchen. He glanced towards the room, almost reconsidering.
"You're really going to blame him, aren't you?" Techno said, looking up.
"I just want an explanation." Wilbur explained, making a step towards the room. But Techno grabbed his arm, stopping him.
"Maybe we should talk to him later, like Dad said we don't know the whole story. Maybe we should-" Techno began.
"Do you want to know or not?" Wilbur turned to him.
"Yes." Techno admitted, releasing his grip and allowing Wilbur to go.
Wilbur walked towards the room with Techno trailing him. Wilbur didn't even knock, immediately barging in.
The blonde snapped up, gripping onto the bedsheets. "H-hey."
"You're lucky my dad has a good heart, because if I had my way I would kick you out right now." Wilbur spat, glaring at the prince.
Tommy shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. "I-I'm sor-"
"Where have you been? Laying around in your castle every day sulking in your riches while your people suffer? How can you do that? That horrible woman is destroying everyone's lives! How can you sit by and watch that happen? How can you not see that? How can you be that disgusting of a person?!" Wilbur demanded, releasing all the anger that had been building up since Tommy arrived.
Strangely the blonde didn't fight back, in fact all he did was shrink and take it in. No yelling or blaming, just sadness. He stared at the sheets, quickly wiping away the building tears.
Wilbur rolled his eyes, "You are such a baby! If you think I'm giving you any sympathy you have another thing coming! You are a selfish little brat! Dad shouldn't have even helped you, you're worthless."
Tommy nodded, whispering, "I-I know."
Wilbur stood up, dragging Techno with him. "You should just get out, save us the trouble." he muttered.
To his surprise Tommy apologized. "I'm sorry."
His voice was so genuine that it was hard not to run and comfort him. Wilbur shook his head, leaving the room with Techno right behind.
They walked to the kitchen in silence.
"Wilbur... that was too harsh." Techno finally said, looking at his brother.
"It's the truth." Wilbur shrugged, "The truth is harsh." He was unbothered by it, or he seemed to be anyway. He figured the blonde didn't believe him.
What he didn't realize was that Tommy believed every word he said.
