Tommy POV

"These cookies are so good!" Tommy exclaimed, taking another bite of the sweet treat.

Tubbo laughed, "Of course they are! Lani made them." He reached into the small pouch, taking another one.

"Don't eat all of them!" Tommy snatched the cookies, keeping them away from the brunette's grasp. "The rest are for Phil, Techno, and Wilbur!"

Tubbo grinned. "I guess you really are a part of their family now, huh?"

Tommy paused, turning towards Tubbo. He hadn't really thought about it... well that wasn't true, he had. Hearing it aloud made it seem so real, almost too good to be true. "You really think so?"

"Of course!" he said brightly. "Have you seen how protective they are over you now? I don't think you could go back to the queen even if you wanted to."

"I guess it's a good thing I don't then." Tommy looked away, not even wanting to think of that.

Tubbo was silent for a moment. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that."

"Better me than someone else."

"Doesn't make it right though!" Tubbo shook his head, pulling at the grass beneath their feet. "No one should ever have to go through something so horrible."

Tommy sighed, "I just wished I could have saved you all from being banished. That must have been horrible." He could never forgive himself for everything Ivory had done to the poor people.

"It's not all bad." Tubbo shrugged. "Willow's Hollow is actually really nice. A little small, but we manage. Besides, it protects us from Ivory."

Tommy leaned back in the grass, enjoying the beautiful afternoon. Tubbo laid beside him, enjoying his company.

"Will you ever go back?" the question was small, almost like Tubbo didn't want to hear the answer.

"No."

"No matter what?"

"No matter what." Tommy looked towards him, a smile on his face. "Who knows, maybe someday I'll be ruling instead of her."

"I thought you said you wouldn't go back." Tubbo blinked, biting his lip.

"Well if there's a chance I can stop her from ruling I'm willing to take it. The people deserve that after everything they've been through." Tommy explained.

Tubbo sighed, "I don't ever want you to leave... I've never had such a good connection with someone before." He paused, looking away. "I've never had a best friend."

"Maybe you can live in the castle too!" Tommy suggested, hoping to bring a smile back to his face. He hated seeing his friend sad. "When I rule you won't be banished anymore! You- everyone- can come back! It can be normal again."

"Really? Even though I'm not royal?" Tubbo raised an eyebrow. Tommy could tell he didn't want to get his hopes up.

"When I'm king, it won't matter."

Tubbo grinned, "I hope you're king soon." He chuckled, watching the sky for a moment. "I don't know how you do it."

"Do what?"

"You just know how to complete people, how to make them happy."

"Probably just something I get from my dad." Tommy shrugged. "Were you not happy before?"

"I was... but something was missing. Just like with Techno and Wilbur and Phil. They always complained that they were missing something, and then you showed up. Now they're more than happy." Tubbo met his blue eyes.

Tommy grabbed his hand, squeezing it. "Thank you for being my best friend."

"Best friends forever."

And in that moment I they could feel was happiness. Their friendship grew stronger as their bond grew closer. But in a moment that feeling was taken away, replaced by a cold voice.

"Thomas."
