I don't even have words for how much of a masterpiece this film is. Based on the life of legendary queer artist Ma Rainey this film was much more emotionally intense than I had expected.
Although the movie focuses mainly on black oppression and racial inequality, Ma Rainey does have a girlfriend in the film.
The strong and authentic performances of Voila Davis and Chadwick Boseman (RIP My Man🙏) were truly Oscar worthy of which they were unfortunately robbed of.
I would say that the ending of the film was intense and unexpected but I still loved it nonetheless.
