IT’S THE LAST DAY OF COLLEGE! That means I get my certificates, I have no more school ever, I need to find a real job, I can spend every day with Nick and I’ll never have to see my teachers again! This is to be so exciting. Nick and I both wake up so happy. How could you not? We get dressed in our nicest casual clothes, and head to our last day of our traditional café stop. We walk in and the lady greets us both with hugs. She tells us our meals are free today as its our last day and she will cook anything that we want. But Nick and I both don’t take advantage of the opportunity and have our usual waffles, pancakes and milkshakes. The lady still gives them to us for free and we take a selfie for her ‘wall of fame’ that she has up of her favourite customers.

We walk to our next class. Our professor doesn’t even try to teach us anything because he already knows that we have passed and are graduating. He brought in cake for us all to share. Nick and I get our pieces and go back to our seats. I am in the middle of eating mine when Nick scoops up a chunk with his finger and boops it onto my nose. I then scoop some onto his lips and he pouts for me to kiss him. I cave in and kiss his cake covered lips, licking it off in the process while wiping my cake from my nose onto his nose. He furrows his eyebrows and licks the cake off my nose and wipes the cake off of his.

The end of class comes to an end and Nick does his last drop and run duty. That class is a party. The teacher brought in snacks, lights and balloons for us. He loved us and told us he was our favourite class to teach. We spent the hour and a half dancing and playing games on the whiteboard together. What felt like only 20 minutes the lesson had finished and we were released. Instead of going to lunch with Nick we had to go to our graduation assembly. In college, surprisingly it wasn’t made into such a big deal here. I found Nick and sat next to him. We waited for our names to be called and when they were we would walk across the stage, collect our certificate, get a photo taken and walk back. My turn came and I walked on stage, looked at all my peers and down at the proud parents. There they were his stepmom and his dad. He looked exactly like his dad just 30 years younger.

I couldn’t even walk up and acknowledge them as I was accepting my certificate but I knew they recognised me. They smiled at me and I reciprocated the gesture back. I walked back to my seat and Nick was called shortly after. He tapped my thigh before he got up and walked down. He looked so proud collecting his awards. He smiled very brightly at the camera before practically skipping down the aisle back to me. He whispers into my ear, “My dad and his wife is here.”

“I know, I saw.”
“How, you don’t know who they are?”
“He looks exactly like you, it isn’t hard to miss.”
“Fair enough.”

We continue to watch the ceremony. Once it concludes Nick grabs my hand and walks me over to his parents.

“Guys, this is y/n, my girlfriend.”

“You’re so beautiful,” His stepmom says to me.

I thank her and shake both their hands. “Would you guys maybe want to meet up tonight with y/n and I for dinner together?” “That would be lovely just text me the details,” His dad replies. That’s settled, I have to meet, converse and make a really good impression on them tonight. I want them to love me just as my parents love Nick. I can do that surely.
