War was an inevitability wherever Marley was concerned. All they did was conquer, colonise and subjugate. In reality, it was exactly what the Eldian Empire had done, only Marley were far newer at being the oppressors rather than the oppressed this time.

The Mid-East never truly wanted peace with Marley, all they and the other nations in the alliance wanted was the downfall of Marley as a nation. While they may have been on track to do that before the War Hammer Titan decided to side with Marley, the offence never stopped from the Mid-East Alliance, they were just a lot more careful and less willing to throw troops and Navy vessels at Marley until they caved because of this newfound threat to their Naval superiority.

At least, that's what Y/N told himself to justify the murder of foreign royalty. He'd already killed royalty before, the most powerful one in the world was a good example when he took the Founding Titan, but the circumstances surrounding the deaths were far different. One had offered herself as a martyr to his cause, while he killed the other one in cold blood.

He didn't care though, Eldians were treated like slaves in Nari, so to him, it was a step towards the equality that he'd been striving for for the past year and a half. It was nowhere near where he wanted it to be, but he was just getting started, and so were his allies down in Odiha and the others on Paradis.

Anyway, Marley had always been far too quick with the trigger to either declare war or retaliate on behalf of someone that they believe had been wronged, by either the Island Devils or another nation. Nari was no different, it was only a temporary ceasefire, and with both sides blaming each other for the bombing, the ceasefire signed by both governments was ripped up within hours, exactly what Y/N had wanted from his exchange in Odiha.

This made it far too easy to start the fighting between two trigger happy nations, one that sought world domination, and the other that was tired of the other's conquests and wanted to put them in their place.

It had been almost four weeks since the fighting had restarted after the incident in Odiha, and despite the state he was left in, there wasn't a single article or photograph that made it into the press about him, how he survived, or the charred body that was pulled from the river, which was great, but he'd still been living at home inside for the last four weeks.

The main reason for that was because despite what people thought about Titan powers, he didn't actually know what to do to grow his hair back after being almost burned alive. Reiner had done it after losing his head in Shiganshina, but refused to tell Y/N how to forcefully grow his hair, which meant he had to wait to grow it back just like everyone else, and he didn't particularly like being bald, so he chose to spend time inside with his daughter Hana.

"Look at you, aren't you just adorable?" They were words that he never would've believed that he'd say given what he'd endured over the last several years, but there was something about seeing parts of yourself in a child that was your own flesh and blood that would make the coldest of hearts thaw.

It also helped that Hana was absolutely adorable, and despite the fact that he hadn't been involved whatsoever in naming her, it fit her so perfectly. It was inexplicable, it just seemed to fit her so well, an adorable name for such an adorable child.

"That's right, you are just adorable, aren't you?" Y/N made faces that continued to make her giggle, holding her out in front of his face so that she could reach out and touch him, unintentionally smacking his face occasionally with her hands while she attempted to copy what he was doing with his face.

Just then, the door to the room opened, and just when he thought that he would have some time alone, to himself, with his daughter, someone just had to come in and ruin all the fun they were having together. Turning around to see who it was while lowering Hana and pulling her into his chest, though she was still reaching for his face, his mood was significantly dampened by the fact that it was Tifa who had decided to barge in without knocking after being gone for only fifteen minutes.
