"Aerith darling, it's time." Elmyra Gainsborough, the adoptive mother of Aerith Gainsborough entered the room that her daughter was currently waiting in, the two of them both dressed up for the occasion, although Elmyra no longer wore her red armband with the Nine Pointed Star of Eldia. She had decided not to wear it at this private event so that nobody would stare at her in disgust, she didn't want to be a distraction or disrupt anything on her daughter's big day.

Aerith on the other hand, hardly acknowledged her mother, barely noticing her presence at all, instead in her hands she held her own red armband. In about an hour's time, she'd never need to wear it again in her life, but there was something that felt very off just thinking about never wearing it again.

It was part of her identity, part of who she was. She was an Eldian living in the ghetto in Acirfa in North Marley. Living without an armband was something she'd always dreamed of as a child, especially seeing Marley Public Security abuse their powers and beat Eldians senseless for the slightest infraction because they could.

However, the recent changes that the Marley Senate brought into Law, limiting the powers of Public Security and harsher punishments for Officers found breaching the new laws made her somewhat proud to be an Eldian, knowing that change can and has taken place, knowing that her armband was no longer a target for bored Public Security Officers who needed an arrest for their useless statistics.

"You know how everyone will react if you wear that." Elmyra gave her a warning, but her tone didn't sound disapproving of the idea. "Did you ask him about it to see what he thought?" She questioned her adoptive daughter.

"I didn't." Aerith admitted rather sheepishly, her thumbs running over the points of the star. "Do you think he would be annoyed if I did put my armband on?"

"I couldn't tell you dear. I've only met him briefly a few times, you're the one that's been out with him, getting to know each other." She reminded Aerith. "You have to decide that for yourself. You know him better than me, it's up to you, but you know I'll support you, no matter what you decide."

"Ok, thank you mom." Aerith nodded, staring at the nine pointed star armband she was holding in her hands. "I know what I'm going to do now. Thank you."

Standing at the altar was Y/N, behind him was the priest that was set to marry him to Aerith. On one side were the bridesmaids that he barely knew and had only ever met once or twice, and on his side, was a handful of people. He didn't exactly have many friends, meaning he had exactly zero friends on this side of the ocean, if he could even consider those on the Island of Paradis friends at all.

So his idea was to have his little cousin Fine, whom he had become quite fond of since his return home as one of his groomsmen, his uncle Willy and his mother as the other two by his side to see him getting married.

It was the first time he had worn a suit in years, probably since he was ten, and he had to admit, he looked good wearing a suit. Though he was a tad nervous, in the front row he had the mother of his child Tifa sitting watching, holding their daughter Hana in their lap. It was a little awkward to be honest, having to explain to her that he was getting hitched with someone else.

Not like it was his choice really, his Uncle Willy setting up the whole marriage behind his back, though it did get a lot less awkward after Tifa got to know Aerith a little bit, knowing that she was to be the stepmother of Hana, it was a good thing that she was so kind and supportive with anything really. Though unbeknownst to Y/N, Tifa had made it abundantly clear that she was Hana's mother and to know her place when it came to these type of family decisions.
