A/N- Hello again, just to let you know, the years are going to fly by in the next few chapters, because I do want to get to the more active filled parts of the story, but there will be maybe 3 or 4 chapters before the Trost Invasion.

Year 846

It had been a year since that encounter with the Reiss family down in that underground cavern, and while he had given up hope of the girl turning herself in after about a week, he hadn't given up on his search for them, despite how everything he was doing turned into basically nothing and was worthless.

It also didn't help that they had gotten a new instructor to replace the other one who had been placed with the Garrison Regiment to help with the refugee crisis Wall Rose had been suffering from before they sent 250,000 of them back into Wall Maria.

Their new instructor was Keith Shadis, the old commander of the Scouts, and the only commander who has stepped down from his role instead of being eaten by a Titan outside of the walls, and he was not someone who took slacking off too well, in fact, it made it impossible for Y/N to ditch training after Shadis threatened to kick him out if he didn't show up for training every day after he went to look for the Warriors in Trost.

He didn't find them, but he had been to the recruitment office and asked if he could get a message if any of them did sign up for the military given that all four of them would be about the right age to join up.

While ditching training outright was out of the question at this point, that didn't mean he had to try his hardest, especially in the hand to hand combat training that Shadis was making them do in the summer heat just for his own enjoyment.

He was currently fighting against Oluo, and while he wasn't bad, fighting with a fake rifle wasn't exactly Oluo's strong suit, so much so that Y/N had began spinning his own one halfway through their training, using it in very abstract ways to hit Oluo or to make him either trip or fall and bite his tongue yet again.

However, while Shadis hadn't cared that much to put a stop to it, a certain ginger haired female cadet wasn't taking to kindly to the way Y/N was treating one of her friends, even if she was also friends with Y/N, she wasn't going to stand by and leg someone get bullied so easily.

"Hey! Y/N!" She called his name out as he strode purposefully over to him and Oluo, getting in between them, her own fake rifle in hand. "How about you stop bullying Oluo like that. You're not helping anyone by continuing to hit him over and over again."

"Do you even know what the definition of bullying is Petra?" Y/N asked her, challenging her stance. "Or do you just feel the need to step in when nobody asked because you see someone down on the floor after getting beat in a fight?"

"Yeah, I do know what bullying is." Petra replied to him. "And you are in no position to argue after I just watched you repeatedly hit him over and over again, making him bits his tongue without any thought for him or his safety."

"You can say it's bullying all you want, even though it's just not, but what the fuck are you gonna do about?" Y/N asked her, looking around to see that they had drawn quite the crowd in.

"Fight me then." Petra suggested, only for Y/N to laugh at her. "I'm serious." She deadpanned. "Fight me instead."

"Fine." He sighed, twirling the rifle once more as they set themselves. "But don't say I didn't warn you."

With one hand on the rifle, he held it like a sword, confident that Petra couldn't fight for shit, she was tiny, what could she possibly do to him?

In a few seconds, Petra had swept his rifle aside and kicked him over like a child, but that's only because he hadn't been expecting it.

"You were saying?" Petra taunted him as the cadets started laughing at Y/N who was flat on his back, but he was up in an instant, and grabbed the rifle and held it properly this time.
