It was New Year's Eve, and the four of you were sat at George's house in the living room.

The TV was on with the volume down low, the countdown to the new year slowly ticking away.

Ami and Chaya sat on the floor together, eating Fruitellas and drinking Toilet Coke. You and George curled up on a sofa together.

You were official now, and had been dating for a month now!

Chaya and Ami's relationship was still complicated, with Ami being in the Mafia and loving anime boys and Chaya was still not over the previous rejection. But all was going well.

You were the happiest you had ever been. You hadn't sung out of sadness and crying for at least four months now. You hadn't run off from people for two months. A pretty good achievement, be proud!

You were planning your resolutions in your head.

I resolve to never cry again.

I resolve to always learn my quotes for English and get 6/6 on tests.

I resolve to wear more platform heels.

But nothing really clicked. Maybe you could just wing this next year.

But you always make a resolution...

Ugh! It was too much. You ran out of the room crying and locked yourself in the bathroom.

You cried for a while, checking the time every few seconds so you didn't miss the new year.

Eventually, a knock at the door. Many knocks actually, about three.

You unlocked the door and your friends all tumbled into the small space.

"Y/n, quick!" George cried, hauling you downstairs.
"Let's go!" Ami beamed.
"Poggers!" Chaya said.

You all clambered onto the sofas and turned the volume up to watch the countdown.

10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

"Happy New Year!" the four of you said in unison.

"Wow! I can't believe it's 2006," Chaya exclaimed.

"Same. Something feels familiar about it. I kinda feel like..." Ami mused.

"New year, new me!" George yelled.

"Yeah, Ami... it's like... familiar."

"What?" you asked. They weren't making much sense.

You were overwhelmed with happiness. You had a good feeling about this year.

It was gonna be okay.
