It didn't take long for the message to come:

"**** **** **** come alone at 5 pm"

So, the next day at 4.55 there he was, waiting...in the middle of a forest? He took a look around and found nothing but trees. After some minutes, two big dudes approached him with a black hood on their heads and one in their hands.

505: "Eddy?"

Asked the taller one. Eddy nodded and swallowed thickly.

505: "Nothing personal but we have to put this on you, you can do it yourself if you prefer"

He said while handing the hood to Eddy. Eddy took the hood and wore it. Then he felt two big hands on his shoulders guiding him in the wood. After about 30 minutes of walking, the ground became solid and the air warmer. They were probably in a building. They made Eddy sit and handcuffed him. Then a smaller hand removed the hood from his head.

Nat: "Hi Eddy, welcome. Sorry for the handcuffs, but you're new and you have to pass the security tests before you can join us as an agent"

Eddy: "I thought my life as an agent had just ended"

Nat: "Oh boy, I fear that it's just begun!"

Eddy took a glance around: he was in a bare room with only one table and a mirror. Yeah, an interrogation room.

Eddy: "Tell me about target 101"

Nat: "Sure"

She said, taking a little black box from one of her pockets. She put the box on the table and pressed a button in the middle of it. A giant hologram of a folder appeared in the air and she clicked on it making lots of hologram papers come out. Then she clicked on the folder "mission 103".

Nat: "I lied to you Eddy, I don't know everything about you: I know more that you know about yourself. You were born 25 years ago from a Chinese woman that gave you up for adoption. She was paid by the company before your birth to let them implant you Gene X: a special gene capable of improving the physical ad intellectual skills of the future born. The company approved this gene back in 1990 and the first experiments were made two years later, one of which on Brett, the only one who received some benefits from the gene even if not completely. All the other babies from his generation died. In just one more year the gene was perfect and implanted again: you are from that generation, and me too. My partner was from that generation as well"

Eddy: "Are you saying that I'm an experiment?"

Nat: "Yeah, all the agents that have worked with you are experiments. The only ones who don't have the gene are the masters. Mr. Parker, Mr. Kim, Mrs. Brown...all of them are the inventors of the gene. They implanted the gene in the foetuses personally, and follow closely the outcome of the babies, by becoming teachers or other workers in positions that allow them to monitor the babies"

Eddy: "Mr. Smith"

Nat: "Yeah, Mr. Smith is one of those, the one that implanted yours and Brett's gene. And...Mr. and Mrs. Chen were two operative members of the team, like Mr and Mrs. Yang, members designed to work in the field and took care of the generation of prodigies, there's an enormous list of this type of agents"

Eddy: "Wow, I knew I was adopted but this is out of every...well everything! And my sister?"

Nat: "We will get to your siter in a moment, I have more urgent stuff to tell you before that. This was a crazy idea, that could be easily destroyed or robbed by the government if they'd known: it's for this reason that they installed a microchip with the gene to function as a timer that, reached a certain age, would kill the subject"
