Eddy stared down at the folder in his hands: "FINAL ATTACK". So threatening he thought

Nat: "Final attack will be the last part of our mission in which we will save all the men remained under Target 101, and we're gonna end, once for all, the operations of the agency. The last 10% of people remained in the base will help us as moles. We selected these subjects based on the terms of urgency of their condition.

The first step will be to bring these men on our side: this will be the task of all the 102 X negatives whose faces are not in the database.

The second step will be to acquire all the possible information about the base and the files in the principal server.

The third step will be to file all the members of the agency we didn't know about.

The fourth step will be to plan our attack.

The fifth step will be the attack itself"

All the people in the room started murmuring under their breaths.

Nat: "For security reasons, we will have to reassign some agents, and activate some emergency protocols. You can open your folder"

Eddy slid a finger under the cardboard cover. One of his biggest fear could have been waiting for him behind that thin layer of cellulose: hurting Brett. Deep breath. Lift

"Agent 000

Target 101 assignment: 103

X gene: positive

Mission role: step three, step four, step five.

Team member: leader

Reassignments: none

Emergency protocols: plan Y"

Nat: "Every modification about your agent state is specified on the first page. The following ones contain your tasks. I hope everyone understands the gravity of the situation and the necessity for this change of plans"

She said, eyeing Eddy

Nat: "You can retire"

And all the agents left the room, except for Eddy: his gaze fixed on the Y on the page. Nat sat next to him at the big oval table

Nat: "I thought you saw this coming"

Eddy: "You made me 'leave' Katlin a month ago, and every move we make is in the interest of the mission, not in the one of a single soul. So, yeah I kinda saw it coming"

Nat: "He will be fine Eddy. Didn't we always protect him?"

Eddy: "Sure, but nobody, not even I, can protect him from suffering. He is my best friend and I swore to myself when I became an agent in the first place that nothing bad would have happened to him...and look at what I have done! He carries a lethal microchip on his lung and an entire agency wants his head on a plate. He had to see me with another person and God knows if he understood that I have feelings for him. He could have thought that I'm a coward, or an asshole for not accepting the fact that I love a man, and he would have been, to some extent, right. And if this wasn't enough, now he has to see me die!"

Nat: "I see your point Eddy, but remember that you are doing this to protect him. If it can help you, I'll be by his side all the time you will be away"

Eddy took a rapid glance at her and closed the folders. He toyed with the corner of the paper a little and stood up.

Eddy: "If you stay personally with him, be sure he knows how wonderful he is, and be sure he never doubts his value. I...I'll miss him"
