The Misaki Stairs

HANAKO'S POV:

"She vanished?" I asked looking up at Yashiro who held a panicked expression. "Hm..."I hum looking back down at the cards in my hand. Currently I was playing cards with the Mokke when Yashiro busted in exclaiming her friend was missing. "Don't 'hm' me! You were gone all morning and lunch!" My eyes scanned over the cards"well I'm a busy guy." I state placing down a card"why don't you report it to the police?" She shakes her head"no this is different. Her flowers,her desk,everything that was Aoi's is gone. And everyone says that they don't know an Aoi." As if on cue Kou opened the bathroom door and came in,he stomped his way over to me. "HANAKO!" This can't be good. "K-Kou! Th-This is the girls bathroom!" Kou grabbed my collar and brought me towards him and began to shake me back and forth,which made me drop my cards. "What did you do to my classmates Yokoo and Satou?!"

"W-Wait calm down!" Yashiro exclaims"this was obviously his doing! Spreading those stories! Why does nobody remember them?!"

"You mean your friends are missing to?!" Kou stopped shaking me and dropped me to the floor. The room was spinning as I placed a hand on my head,hoping for it to stop. "Vanishing students..."I started"and a rumor of a staircase." The room suddenly came to a stop as I internally sighed in relief before straightening my clothing up. "You're right. I do have an idea of what's going on here."

"I KNEW IT!"

"Where is Aoi?!"

I went over to the fallen cards and picked them up as I spoke. "In this school,there are ei-seven locations which connect to the netherworld. That stair case is one of them. The missing students were probably taken there." Kou spoke up"'the netherworld'?" I nod and stand up"it's called a boundary. It's the place between the far and near shore. When a living person steps in there,their existence is wiped clean. Though there seems to be a few exceptions like Yashiro and the kid." Kou's eyes narrowed"my brother told me about that. It's the ocean that connects the far and near shore. He told me that things with no home end up there. Spirits of the dead,supernaturals and forgotten things."

"You've got quite the knowledge kid." I hum"c-can the people who go there...e-ever come back?" Yashiro stutters out with tears in her eyes. I look to her unsure of what to do for a moment,that was until I smiled and placed my hands onto her cheeks. "Hey,don't make that face. It's alright! I'll help them! I told you didn't I? I am No.7 of the school mysteries. It's my duty to maintain correct relationships between humans and supernaturals." I then place my hand on her head giving her a few pats"you'll be helping as well Yashiro."

"HEY!" Kou screams getting between us. "What's wrong with you?" I hum with a frown"I was getting to the good part." He wraps his arms around the girl in a protective manner"YOU WERE ABOUT TO TAKE SENPAI TO THIS BOUNDARY PLACE,WEREN'T YOU?!" I nod"I'm going to! I can't trust you alone with senpai. I'll protect her!" I place my arms behind my back"she'll have my protect as she is my assistant. Though you...you're on your own."

"LIKE I'D EVER NEED YOUR HELP!" I smirk"don't blame me when you get killed~." Kou and I continued to fight until Yashiro stepped in between us and demanding we stop. We had a job to do. We hurried to the Misaki staircase and hopped up onto the forth step which sent us to the her boundary.

The city was colored red and was quite neat as water littered the floor. "What is this place?" Yashiro asks astounded"the Misaki stairs." I say tugging on my hat"looks like she's really been going to town. The missing students should be here,I can't guarantee their well-being though." I walked over to the stairs which lead further into her boundary,I watched the two look around in amazement. I ushered them to follow me. "Hey Hanako. There's nothing here. I thought that something was going to tear us apart." Kou questions"well they wouldn't do it right away. Where's the fun in that?" I asked looking back as I smirked and wiggled my finger tips at them. "Whittling away at you ever so slowly~. That's the fun part!" Kou narrowed his eyes"you're sick." I pull my hands away"well yea." I hop up a few more steps and turn around with my arms behind my back. "We're the seven mysteries. As the seven pillars that govern the supernaturals of this school,we must be known by as many people as possible. That's why we scare them. Think about it,nice creatures that do happy things or scary creatures that do bad things...the scary ones are much more likely to leave an impression,don't you think?" I continue up the stairs"still,No.2 has gone to far this time. We have to put a stop to this immediately." That's when a phone was heard through the boundary. We looked to see a red phone sitting on a table. Yashiro reached for it while shaking slightly. Her pale hand picked up the phone as she held it close to her"h-hello? Wh-Who is it?"

"It's Misaki. I had been teaching my students in the school house at the top of those stairs. But I was killed here,torn to pieces. Right in the place you are standing. Say,would you please look for my body? I can't do anything as I am now." Yashiro asked for Aoi only to be ignored. She told us to look for her right arm. That's when a click was heard as we looked to see a hourglass being tipped over,Yashiro silently placed the phone down. "A time limit..."Kou trails off"do you think we can go on if we put her arm there?" Yashiro asks gesturing to the small house near a set of large doors. "Not sure. I'm sure something will happen though." I say looking at the doors.

"Don't worry senpai! It was just a prank call! Let's just ignore it!"

"I don't recommend that." I then explained what would happen if chose to ignore her. "Though,I won't stop you." I smirk with my hand on Kou's shoulder. "For now,why don't we just look for her arm? It sounded like a woman." Kou sighs"if you say so." I take my hand off him and float over to one of the treasure boxes she had lying around. "Good idea. This might actually be fun. See? Look at this!" I exclaim with a smile as I pull out the dirty magazine to show Kou. On the page I had open was a woman looking seductively at the camera with her breasts out. "Look at this treasure!" Kou then swung his staff at me as I floated up to dodge. "TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!" I laughed"I am!" I continued"but hey,don't you think something is better than nothing?"

"Hey stop that! Cut it out!" Kou growls trying to get away from me. I sighed and shut the magazine"fine. Be that way." I place the magazine into my pocket and continue to look through the things in the room. If Y/N saw me now she'd probably have a heart attack. I mean...last time she saw me I wasn't a pervert. I guess being a ghost changed me.

The three of us soon came back as a group. I presented a robot arm,Kou presented a wood carved arm while Yashiro presented a mannequins arm. "We're looking for a woman's right arm! Kou,you just found an arm you liked and brought it! And you need to take this seriously Hanako-kun!" The girl lectured as Kou avoided eye contact with a faint pink hue on his cheeks. "ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!"

"Hey Yashiro,I'm not sure how to put this but...something seems off about you." I blinked a few times to make sure I wasn't seeing things,and sure enough Yashiro's breasts suddenly got bigger. "You think? I'm pretty sure this is how I always look." She says flipping her hair. "I don't know about that..."I trail off as one of her breasts slides down the top part of her uniform. Soon it slipped from her chest area to her skirt area and then into the water.

We stared at the undergarment in silence.

"Senpai..."

"Yashiro..."

She screamed and threw the undergarment away. "Th-That was just...w-well y-you know...it's not you-"I placed my hand on her shoulder with a reassuring smile. "It's ok. You don't need to say anything." She screamed in horror as a laugh was heard. "Time's up! Time's up! It's time for class!" The dolls chanted"class?" Kou asks readying his staff"look! The hour glass ran out!" Yashiro exclaims pointing"all we have to do is put it in the the-"

"Which one of you is running late?" Kou smirks"if you wanna piece,come and get it! I'll take you all down!" That's when a large pair of scissors appears in front of us,ready to cut us up. "Get down!" I yell as I push the two down with me. It was literally less than an inch away from cutting me up. Next thing I knew we were running from it"it's a dead end!" Kou yells as we come to a halt. The dolls slowly approach us and place their hands on us,Yashiro's leg gets stuck by the dolls who said she was the tardy one. "YASHIRO!" I yell as the scissors line up perfectly with her. My eyes narrowed as I tore away from the dolls and grabbed her from her almost soon death. "H-Hanako-kun!" I shoved her into Kou's direction"stay back!" I then kick the scissors making them bend and break then falling to the floor. "You did it!" Yashiro exclaims as I take out my knife.

"No." I ready my knife as the scissors regenerate"we're not done yet." The scissors rush towards me to which I dodge and land a hit on them. "Kid!" Kou then speaks up"don't tell me what to do!" Kou knocks the dolls back with his staff as I smile"good job!" I run over to Yashiro and lift her up,placing her under my arm. "Ok,let's go!" I say looking to her"h-huh?" She blushes"run away!" I tease with a soft giggle. "B-But the door!" Yashiro yells as she says the Mokke appeared with the arm. "Put it in the shrine,hurry!" Kou picks up the arm and throws it into the shrine. "Alright!" I place Yashiro down and smile"nice throw!" The doors before us then open with a slight breeze. "It's open!" We run in as the door shuts behind us. We all sighed in relief,it looked the same as the other room. More dolls and stairs.
