Confessing

HANAKO'S POV:

"Yashiro!" I exclaim hopping off the window sill and going over to the girl who was sadly taller than me. "H-Hi,H-Hanako-kun." She stutters out making me give a confused look"why are you so flustered?" I asked her as she gives me a dumbfound expression. "Huh? I am?" I nod"yep. You only stutter when you're scared or nervous." I cross my arms"I've only known you for a few weeks but I picked up on things quite easily." She looks to the floor"it's nothing! I was just remembering something is all." She goes over to the farthest wall from me and sets her belongings on the floor. "Well,now that you're fixed-!" I snap my fingers and a bucket and mop appear in my hands. "It's time to get cleaning!" She groans as I shove the items into her hands"you can't complain,Yashiro." I go over to the window sill once more"if you didn't wanna become my assistant you shouldn't have summoned me." I remarked as she looks to me"but how was I to know?!" I clap my hands together a few times"come on,we don't have all day!"

She sighs and carries the bucket over to the sink and fills it up with water and the cleaning soap. "Oh that's right!" I exclaim as she drops the wet mop onto the floor"after school tomorrow,will you come to the giant tree in the practice garden for me?" Her grip became stronger on the stick"H-HUH?! Y-You mean the confession tr-"I nod with a slightly surprised expression. "Oh,so you know about it. That saves me the trouble of explaining." I walk over to her and stop right beside her"so I'll see you there."

I walk pass her and exit the bathroom. She better not be thinking of anything weird. I carry myself to Tsuchigomori-sensei's classroom,when I peaked inside he was the only one in there. I smiled and entered the classroom. "Tsuchigomori-sensei! I'm back!" The teacher doesn't even lift his head,he greets me with a grunt. "Hey,that's not a nice way to greet your favorite student." I pout as he looks to me"just go ahead and ask it." My eyes widened slightly as I felt my cheeks burn"uh...w-well..."I looked to the floor before snapping my head back towards him. "How do you know what I'm going to ask?" I remark"because whenever you unexpectedly visit me,you ask the same thing." I huff"fiiiine. Have you seen Y/N,recently?"

He clicks his pen and placed the paper to the side. "And this is when I say the same thing: no. Now would you mind? I have papers to grade." He unenthusiastically states. "Well,when will I see her? She didn't get exorcised did she?" He shakes her head"nope." "Well then how do you know if you haven't seen her?" He sighs and rubs his temples in frustration"if I tell you the truth will you leave me alone?" I nod"yes I have seen her. I saw her a few days ago. She told me she doesn't want to see you. She's made it very clear to me." I blink a few times"what do you mean? Why wouldn't she want to see me?" He shrugs and then points a finger to the door"I answered your question. Now leave." I sigh and nod as I walk over to the door.

I walked back towards the bathroom,a rain cloud over top my head. Why doesn't she want to see me? It's been years,why doesn't she want to see me? "This sucks." I comment as I kick my shoe into the floor.

Time skip to tomorrow

There was a slight breeze as I walked towards the infamous confession tree. I looked over to the tree I had summoned Y/N from all those years ago,it was still standing off to the side. It seemed abandoned like people forgotten about it. Like people forgotten about her. Which I suppose makes sense,she's not a school mystery anymore. She's now just a ghost who haunts the school grounds. I guess with how much time has passed people forgot about her. I came to a halt once I stepped under the shade of the tree. I just need to get this over with. It's not even a real confession! Why am I...why am I getting so nervous? I shook my head as I heard shuffling behind me. "Hanako-kun!" I put on a smile and turned my head Yashiro. "You made it." I turned around completely as she became closer to me. I grabbed hold of her shoulders"I'm just going to go ahead and get this over with!" Her cheeks turned a bright pink"w-wait th-this is all-"

"I love you Yashiro! Go out with me." Yashiro wiped her eyes with a smile,my brows furrowed. "Uh...Yashiro?" I leaned in slightly and took my hands off her"what are you doing? Hurry up and turn me down." I whisper making her confused"say 'I'm sorry'...hurry!" I usher"I-I-I'm sorry!"

"Oh my,we can't have that! If someone confesses their love to you,it's only natural that you accept them!" The wind became harsh as I pulled out my knife and put the girl behind me. "It's love that leads people to happiness! And you would refuse? Preposterous!" A face then appeared on the trees body"I will assist you in your search for happiness!"

"What is that?! Gross!" The tree then got angry and sent its limbs to attack Yashiro. Though the protection spell I placed on her made the limbs retract upon impact. My cape appears around my shoulders as I place my hand on Yashiro's head,pulling her into me. My knife pointed directly at the tree. "It's a good thing I have an assistant since you're a supernatural who only appears in front of couples." I smirk.

"School mystery I have done nothing wrong! I am merely here to make everyone happy!" I run towards the tree"and that is exactly what people call-"I jump up and press my knife into the bark"meddling!"

The tree cracked and sliced in half as I jumped back and it shrunk before us. I put away my cape and placed my knife away as well before walking over to it,Yashiro behind me. "It's a lot smaller now." I comment"how dare you reduce me to this! Do you know how long it took me to gain that power from the students rumors?!" I place my hands into my pockets"it's ok to help people find love,but you took it a little to far." Yashiro asked me about the tree and I explained it to her. "You noticed all the weird couples showing up,yea? I mean,isn't that why you were helping me?"

"Um-yes! That's c-correct! I-I did n-notice all the w-weird c-couples!" She exclaims with hot pink cheeks. I pull out my notebook and pencil,I crouch down to get a better look at the tree. "What should we do for the real rumor? We need to come up with one for the Misaki stairs as well." I hum to Yashiro.

But I got no answer.

"Yashiro?" I ask as I turn my head back to see her walking away from me. I place my belongings down and follow her"Yashiro,hey I'm talking to you!" It then dawned on me of what she was thinking. I placed my hand on her shoulder demanding her to stop. "Oh I get it! You're disappointed that it wasn't a real confession." I giggle at her. Next thing I heard were her soft cries,my laughter stopped as my smiled faded. She did take it to far!

"I HATE YOU HANAKO-KUN!" She screams pushing me into the ground. "Ah! W-Wait,Yashiro!" I call out while scrambling to stand up. "I'm so embarrassed! I-I feel so stupid! S-So then...w-why did you kiss me on the cheek the other day?"

"Th-That was because you were tired. So I casted a spell on you that makes sure s-supernaturals don't harm you!" I stuttered out"IT'S JUST CONFUSING!" She screams slapping me against the cheek"ah! I'm sorry!" I apologize as she turns on her heel and walks away. "I'm going home."

"Wait!" I yell rushing after her and grab her hand"what?" She asks stopping in her tracks. "Um..."I start as our eyes meet,my cheeks begin to burn with embarrassment as I look to the ground. I silently take my hat off,still looking to the ground,any means to avoid eye contact. "I'm...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to make you cry..."I then pulled her into a hug"stay here until you stop crying." I usher as she nods into me and wraps her arms around me.

We stayed like that until she calmed down. Afterwards she left in silence,she didn't wave me goodbye or tell me anything. I deserve the silence. I was the one who took it to far.

I placed my hat back on and that's when I spotted a light pink wisp. My eyes widened as I realized who it belonged to,before I call out to it,it quickly flew away. My head dropped as my eyes watered"I guess I really did mess up. Nobody wants me..."
