Once again, I was woken by the sound of a phone vibrating furiously against a night stand. I opened my eyes, looking around. Abby was still asleep next to me. How could she sleep through all that ruckus? I looked at the clock. One am. Wow, last night was honestly amazing. The it hit me. I felt my body, pinching my skin, hoping it wasn't a dream. I was still alive. Maybe she was waiting. Should I run now, just incase?
"Are you okay?" Abby said to me, scaring me.
"You're awake? Yeah, I'm fine." She rolled over, facing me.
"You're moving around a lot," she giggled.
"Sorry, it's an every night battle," I said, laughing back. She was still looking at me.
"What's on your mind?" Did she really care? Of course she did, or she wouldn't be asking.
"I've read your blog, Abby." She sighed, letting out a deep breath.
"Are you scared?" She sounded serious. My heart starting to beat faster; it almost felt like it was going to beat right out of my chest.
"Should I be?" She stayed silent for a little while.
"You tell me. I'm sure if you've read my blog than you've looked into the cases."
"I have, and they're all men."
"Exactly."
"Then no, I'm not scared."
"Good because you shouldn't be. If I was going to hurt you, it would have been done with by now." She rolled over.
"Abby, I have to go. No, it's not because I'm scared. I had an amazing time with you. I just didn't plan on staying the night, and I have to work early."
"Do what you gotta do. You always have my number." With that, I got dressed and headed home. I couldn't wait to share what I discovered with the team.****
It was ten o'clock when I finally decided to get out of bed. I was really going to be out of whack today; I wasn't following my daily schedule. Oh well. I grabbed my phone.
Sean- good morning, beautiful. I miss you. It's been a while. Let's hang tonight?
A smile appeared on my face when I read the message. Although Sean and I hadn't hung out that much, he brought the good out in me. He kept my mind off of everything, and that's what I needed.
Abby- I would love that. I miss you, a lot actually.
Sean- I'll pick you up at Java Bean tonight?
Abby- see you then xoxo
I had time to kill, so I pulled out my laptop.
