"Sargent Leon?"
"What is it Luis?"
"Lieutenant Amour is here to see you."
"You've got to be fucking kidding me. As if this day couldn't get any worse."
"Actually, Sargent Leon, it can. May we speak in private?" Amour looked at Luis before walking into the room. Leon sat up right in her chair, trying to look professional.
"H-how can I h-help you lieutenant?" Amour stared Leon in the eyes, holding his face in a very pissed of manor.
"Let's cut this small talk, Leon. You know as well as I do that you were extremely unprofessional. How stupid can you be? You had nothing on that girl!"
"That's not true, sir." Leon lowered her head in shame, trying not to make eye contact.
"You look at me when I'm speaking to you. This is very serious," Amour said as he took a seat.
"I know. I'm sorry."
"Sorry isn't enough this time, Leon. I've covered for you too many times now. I can't do it anymore without putting my job on the line, and after this little stunt, you're not worth putting my job on the line for."
"Sir, please..."
"Shut up. You didn't have enough evidence to hold her in a cell, what made you think a jury would convict her? This not only makes you look bad, but it makes me and the whole department look bad. I need your gun and your badge. You will no longer be allowed to work in this town as an officer of the law. I'll be surprised if any other town gives you a job. You ruin reputations, and I've covered for you long enough. You also have a restraining order against you. You are not allowed to be within a hundred feet of Abigail Telao. If you break this, I will arrest you myself. Understood?"
"Yes sir," Leon said as she tried to hold tears back. She couldn't believe what had just happened to her. She just watched her whole life vanish before her eyes.
"Good. Get out of my sight. I have to start training your replacement." Leon couldn't say anything as she watched Luis walk into her office with his stuff.
"Luis, how could you? Did you call him?"
"No, you made an ass out of yourself by making me get a warrant for Abby's arrest. Stacy told me if this didn't go well, someone would be losing their job. That person just so happened to be you. What do you expect to happen when you go against procedure?"
"Enough you two," Amour cut in. "Luis, work on unpacking your stuff. Leon, just go home. You're no longer welcome here."Leon had to hurry to pack all her stuff from the office that she would no longer go to everyday. What was she going to do wht her life now? Leon went out to her car, putting her boxes in the trunk. How would she be able to afford her house? She would have no where to live.
"Mom?"
"Hi, sweetie! It's been a while!"
"I know. I'm sorry. I need to ask a favor of you."
"Sure, honey."
"Can I stay with you for a while?"
"Stephanie, what happened?"
"I got fired."
"God damn it, Stephanie! You're fucking thirty years old. You need to grow up and realize that not everything is about you. It's not always going to go the way you want it to!"
"Mom.."
"No, Stephanie. Do you know what it was like trying to raise five kids on one income? You have yourself to take care of. Find another damn job."Shit, even my mom was disappointed. I couldn't say I blamed her though. She was right. I was thirty years old, and at this point, I had nothing to show for it. I was probably going to lose my house. Hell, after all this, I don't think anywhere would want to hire me.

"Abby?"
"Hey, Talia."
"I've got some great news."
"Okay, spill it!"
"First off, Sean did an amazing job backing you up today!"
"I know. He really cares about me, an he was willing to help since I was honest with him."
"Good. Now, the wonderful news is... Sargent Leon got fired!"
"Whoa, really?"
"Yes! I told you the jury wouldn't convict you, and she made a fool out of herself by thinking they would! Now you can never be tried for this again."
"She fucked herself over."
"Exactly. Listen, I'll stop by tomorrow to check in."
"Alright. Bye!"Wow, that is good news. That bitch deserved whatever she had coming to her anyway. She was trying to ruin peoples lives. I sat on the bed, deep in thought as Sean came up behind me, making me jump.
"Sorry, beautiful."
"It's okay," I said, giving him a peck on the cheek.
"So everything played out great today."
"I know. I really appreciate it, sean. Thank you."
"I wouldn't have done it for anyone else," he said with a smile.
"So... What does this mean for us?" I hesitated as I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Sean.." He eyes widened as he finally realized what I was getting at.
"Shit, abby. I'm a fucking moron." He grabbed my hand, thinking deeply before saying anything. "I want to be with you, I do. I feel this whole thing has brought us closer." I smiled as he talked.
"I agree. I don't know anyone who would have lied in court like that like you did for me."
"Anything to protect you" I leaned my head against his shoulder. Deans phone vibrates in his pocket. He pulled it out quickly to check who had texted him and then shoved the phone back in his pocket.
"Who was that?"
"Oh, just an old friend."
