Hunted- Part Three

I was still sitting at my usual table, waiting for Sean, when a hand fell upon my shoulder. I jumped at the touch. Turning my head I saw Stephanie.
"Long time no see," she said with a smirk. I smiled.
"Yeah, you left kind of quick."
"I apologize for that I really had to get to work." She stared at me, sadness filled her eyes.
"What's wrong?" I questioned her.
"Well, speaking of work. I need you to come with me."
"What?" I said, looking at her confused.
"You're under arrest. Everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney..."
"You've got to be fucking kidding me. You're a cop?" I said, cutting her off.
"You fell right into my trap." She still had a look of sadness in her eyes, almost like she was doing this against her will. I stood up, letting her cuff me.
"Can I at least text my friend and tell him something came up?" He nodded, uncuffing one of my hands.

Abby- Sean, something came up. It's an emergency. I'm not going to be at Java Bean. I will text you as soon as I can xoxo

Stephanie cuffed my hand again, walking me out of the Java Bean. Standing outside the door was Sean. He was looking down at his phone. He looked up and our eyes locked. His eyes were filled with sadness too. Did he know why I was getting arrested.
"Abby, listen to me. I will be down as soon as I can, okay? We're gonna get this straightened out. I love you, beautiful." It was like I had just been punched in the gut. He loved me? My breathing got heavy. No one had ever told me that before. I hesitated before answering back.
"I love you too, Sean." My eyes started to fill with tears. I couldn't control it. He was the only one who was ever really there for me. He listened every time I needed to talk, even if I was just filling him with bullshit. Stephanie out me into the police car, getting in the drivers seat. It was just me and her.
"Well, Abby, I'm sorry I had to do this to you."
"You lied to me. That's what you did."
"For the record, this conversation is being recorded."
"Sweet, I'm not going to say another word." I turned my head, watching Sean as he drove by. It broke my heart seeing him so upset. From that moment on, I realized I didn't know who I could trust. Obviously I should have trusted my gut instinct about Talia. She was just as good of a liar as Stephanie. It hit me. I was being hunted.
