"You crazy bitch what have you done?" I ask as Kai, Lana and Braden come down. "Don't get involved in our family-"

"So much for family, how could you just hand your sister over like that?" I ask in disbelief, "he promised he wouldn't hurt her." She tries to defend making me scoff, "and the attempted assassination was what? A nice little birthday surprise?"

"I am doing what's right for our kingdom and you-" I cut her off by knocking her out. "Cora!"

"Oh relax she's just sleeping, I did us all a favour. She'll wake up to see you long gone." I say making Kai shake her head, "no I can't leave." She says, "are you kidding? You have to go they're here for you."

"They're here for you too! They will kill you Cora my brother despises sirens as much as Lana and he will see you as another threat to the throne, you have to go."

"No way, I'm not leaving."

"You have to."

"I'm your big sister and I'm going to protect you." I say making her smile, "that's the first time you've said that."

"Kai this is so not the time." I say making her nod. "Right sorry."

"Both of you go." Braden says suddenly, "I will lead them away and the two of you get to safety."

"If we flee they'll just come after us." Kai says, "and we can't let that happen, no matter what they can't get Arion." She adds making me nod, "so we fight?" Braden asks making her nod. "So we fight."

Not a moment later is the house infiltrated with the many many guards that I really doubted if we were going to get out of here. See the Catalin royal guard were meant to be the strongest of the realm and so whilst Kai and Braden could use their powers against them I couldn't. My powers really worked best on humans not really merpeople, it could work on some just not the royal family because they were immune somehow and then the Catalin royal guard were able to resist it too.

"Kai get out of here!" I say quickly pulling one of the soldiers off her and snapping their neck, "no I'm-"

"I'm not asking, you need to go." I say my eyes flashing at her even though I knew it wouldn't work, "she's right Kai, we've got this." Braden says, "we can handle them, you get to the others." She sighs and nods, "I can give you a few minutes to get away." Braden says easily taking down three people at once.

"Cover your eyes." He tells me before he uses his power to create a distraction that blinds them. "Wait do that again." I tell him because it's so much easier to take them down if they were blind.

"Are you ok?" I ask him as we've got through them all and are now stood in a house full of dead bodies. "Yeah you?"

"Fine. What are you gonna do with her?" I ask glancing over at Lana who was still unconscious on the ground where we left her. "I don't know. She had been taking the news of mother's illness hard but I never thought she would do something like this." He says with a sigh.
