I nodded to him, as I pressed my lips together.
I walked to the car door and opened it before he could, followed by a sigh.
I sat down and straightened my dress out, as he buckled his seatbelt.

"So," I started. "where are we going?"

"Surprise."

"Again? How far away is it though?" I asked while looking over at him starting the car.

"Only about 25 minutes, it's worth the drive," he added, glancing over at me and turning the wheel.

"Alright, I'll take your word for it."

-

I sat with my arm against the rest and lowly humming the songs that were being played.
I heard his faint whistles, and his finger tapping against the side of the steering wheel.

"Andd, we're here," he said, turning down the radio and turning left into a lot.
Once we pulled in, there were all sorts of pretty white lights surrounding the restaurant and lighting up the parking lot.

"Hope you like pizza," he presumed, opening his door.

"How could I not?" I chuckled, while watching my step as I slid out of the door.
"It's the best."

"And it's pretty romantic if you ask me." he mentioned, looking at me with a smirk from the side of his eye.

"Sure is." I smiled back, walking up the stairs.

He then pulled the wide, glass door open, allowing me to walk through.
The place was extremely full, about every table filled with people, even the line was pretty long.

"Jean? Won't this take like an hour?" I asked him, while scanning my eyes across the people in front of us.

"Nope, just excuse me," he said politely as he rested his hands against my waist and slid past me. His hip brushed against mine, as he then pulled my hand to lead me forward.

He pulled me towards the desk, maneuvering through the many people in the way.

"Hello! If you don't have a reservation, back of the line please!" a man said from the desk, looking at Jean and I.

"Oh, it's- I'm so sorry! Jean Kirstein, right? I'll get you to your table right away!" the waiter then adds almost immediately after studying his face.

"That'd be great, thanks," Jean says gently as he watches the waiter leave the counter.

"Follow me!" he says with the menus in hand, as he walks towards the side of the restaurant.
Jean replaced his grip on my wrist, and slightly tugged me towards him while walking away.

We walked for a few seconds, until we were brought to a corner booth seat.

"Enjoy your date! I will have someone else come by and take your order!" the waiter exclaimed while he set the menus down beside us and headed his way back.

Jean nodded at him, then moving his eyes across the table and staring at the glowing flame on the off-white candle.

"So," I started, trying to create conversation. "How've you been?"

"Not terrible, I've just been busy trying to organize another gig for my band that's happening probably next week," he said, lifting his eyes from the candle and looking at me.
