"everybody get up!" a female voice said over the speakers and woke langa from his deep slumber. he jolted awake and his eyes slowly opened.
he slowly sat up and threw the covers to the other side of bed to get up.
he slipped his slippers on and yawned. every morning, they were ordered to eat breakfast at nine o'clock, so they woken up at eight thirty so no one would be late. if you were late, you faced consequences. langa learned that the hard way.
langa heard keys jingle outside his locked door. the door handle then turned and the door opened.
"head to the cafeteria." a man said as he peeked his head into langas room and then left to get the other patients. langa ruffled his hair and walked out the door.
for some reason, he hadn't seen reki at all yesterday. not during breakfast, lunch, group, or dinner. he had met him two days ago and for some reason he felt like a ghost. reki left no traces which made langa think he was hallucinating again.
langa walked down the hall and entered the cafeteria. no one was to sit within three feet of each other and there was no socializing unless it was under supervision.
so the cafeteria was quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the clinking of the forks on their hard plastic trays.
langa walked up to the station that gave out what they were eating for that day. he stood in line behind a petite, skinny blond girl. behind him stood a young man with chocolate skin and his hair was long but tied back in a bun.
langa walked down the line and continued to watch as he got closer and closer to the lady who handed out the trays of food.
he finally arrived and when he got his food he looked at it. what was served was two pancakes, with a stack of butter, blueberries and strawberries on top. once he got his tray, he walked to a cooler that held beverages and he chose a milk carton.
he then placed the carton on his tray and walked to the nest available seat. he sat down and he began to eat.
he looked around as he ate and his eyes landed on a familiar red head. langa gasped causing him to cough out.
"are you okay?" a man came up to langa and placed a hand on his back, patting it.
"i'm fine." langa said as he cleared his throat and looked at reki. reki was also looking his way since langa coughed pretty loudly.
they made eye contact for a good five seconds before langa looked back to his pancakes. langa stuffed his mouth quickly and he got up to put his tray away.
"bathroom." langa whispered as he walked by reki's spot. langa put the tray in the dirty dishes pile and stuffed his hands in his hospital pant pockets.
langa walked by giving reki a glance and kind of chuckled when he saw reki stuffing his mouth with his one hand.
langa exited the cafeteria and headed towards the bathroom which were straight ahead of him a walk aways.
koji came out of a room and langa froze a little. his shoes squeaked on the floor as he came to a complete stop and koji turned his head and langa met eyes with bright green eyes.
"hello langa." koji said and walked to langa and his breath hitched.
"hello, sir." langa said and koji embraced him in a hug. langas eyes wavered as he slightly hugged koji back.
here, in this place, koji was the ring leader. no one was to go against him. neither were the staff. everyone here worked in his favor. defy him and you had a stack of bad days coming in your near future. everyone learned that and fast. either it be told or by actions.
