"you said your cabin wasn't too far." langa said as he gulped and him and koyomi were struggling to keep walking.
they couldn't hold miya anymore so joe took it upon himself to piggy back him.
"i'm sorry." cherry said as he looked back at the kids. "we're experienced hunters so we kind of get used to walking the miles." cherry said and koyomi gave up and fell face first in the leaves.
"i'm okay." she said and she laid down on her front. "let's take a break, yeah? okay." koyomi said and she started breathing heavily.
the adults chuckled and cherry took his seat. well, any seat he can find in the leaves.
"want me to put you down? i can stay standing for hours." joe offered but miya shook his head.
"no, it's okay. you can lay me down." miya said and joe nodded his head. miya put his good foot on the ground and joe slowly laid him down until he was fully laid down.
"thanks." miya said and joe nodded his head and reached to ruffle miya's hair.
"no problem buddy." joe said and when he made contact with miya's head, miya flinched super hard and his eyes became glossy as he looked up at joe. joe moved his hand immediately
"i'm sorry, kid. i didn't mean any harm." joe said softly and miya shook his head and took a deep breath.
"it's okay. sorry." miya said and joe nodded and walked to his husband.
"i think we need to replace the bandage." joe said and miya looked at his leg. the white wrap was becoming a light red due to the blood seeping through.
"okay yeah." miya said and joe grabbed the bag that was next to cherry.
"so." cherry said after exchanging looks with joe. they're curious. "where did you kids come from?"
"we don't know." langa said and cherry furrowed his eyebrows. "we were abused by our so called parents and when we asked for help, we got put in a building with mind twisting fucks instead." langa said and cherry slowly nodded his head as he narrowed his eyes in confusion.
"uh-huh. okay." cherry said and joe walked over to miya.
"this may hurt if the bandage is stuck to your wound." joe said and miya nodded. koyomi was still laying on the ground but she patted miyas stomach and offered her hand.
she was facing the other way, half asleep. miya smiled and took her hand and she squeezed it. joe then began unwrapping it and it was slightly attached to his skin so miya winced, but he could take it.
"question." cherry said and langa looked at him. "what did you mean by so called parents?" cherry asked and langa sighed and chuckled a little.
"we don't know a lot since we just found out too, but have you heard about the hundreds of babies being taken from hospitals?" langa asked and cherry nodded his head.
"well, here's three of the babies taken from over sixteen years ago." langa said and cherry widened his eyes.
"wait, you guys were taken?" he asked and langa nodded his head.
"we have files in our bags. you can look at them when we get to your cabin." langa said and cherry nodded.
joe finished patching miya up and he tossed the bandage into the other bag. joe didn't believe in littering.
"okay if we want to get there by at least sunset we need to get going." joe said and everyone remained still. "like now." he added and everyone nodded their heads and got up.
