April Fools (Part 3)

I peek out my window as I watch Andrew come and pick him up, Shawn slowly shoving his and Tarzan's things into Andrew's SUV. Meanwhile, Andrew is doing damage control with the paps and finally gets them to leave my yard and our street.

A few hours later a video of our fight has hit the air waves and Shawn's texts me to make sure I'm okay. I reply quickly telling him I can't believe it actually worked and that I'm fine and I miss him.

Later that night, when it's completely dark outside, Shawn and Tarzan move back in. His G-Wagon is in the shop, so no one but my security team and our friends and family know he's back home.

Where he belongs.

In the morning we wake up in each other's arms, sharing laughs about what happened yesterday. He compliments me on my acting skills, mentioning a few times he thought I was really mad at him. I admit to him that I might have actually been.

Deciding to get this all over with, we shower together and decide to take Tarzan for a walk. My friend is coming over as well. The paps haven't arrived yet, but my friend gets dropped off by Roger and we get ready for the walk.

Starting out, Shawn is holding onto Tarzan's leash with one hand and my hand with his other. Mandy, my friend is walking next to me, all of us laughing as we hear a car come up behind us.

We hear it slow as it comes up along side us. A window rolls down, as we recognize a pap named Dale stick his head out the window.

"What is going on here Camila?" He asks me, looking completely puzzled and shocked.

"Oh just going on a walk with my boyfriend, my dog and my friend" I reply nonchalantly, shrugging my shoulders as we keep walking.

"But I thought you and Shawn broke up? That was a pretty epic fight yesterday!" He says. "And why are you with her, she's the one Shawn's cheating on you with?" He adds.

"I'm not cheating on her, and we didn't actually break up you moron!" Shawn says. Stopping in his tracks, we all turn to Dale. "We April Fools'd you all! Luck would have it, you're always so consumed with our lives, you idiots didn't even realize what day it was yesterday" he smirks.

"I would never cheat on Camila. She is the love of my life and you sick people are always trying to spin stories about us because you'll never know the whole truth about us. Always trying to make the next buck!" He says disgusted.

Dale looks at us in shock as he almost drops his camera out of the car.

"All of this was planned, we staged the whole thing. I know who his "friend" was" I say as I look over at Shawn and have never been more in love with him than I am right now. He's so amazing, and the words he spoke to Dale made my heart pound.

Mandy just laughs at the whole thing as we set the record straight and tell Dale to tell all of his pap friends to leave us alone. Driving off in a huff, we walk peacefully the rest of the way back to our house before sending Mandy on her way to see her parents.

Shawn and I are sitting on the couch when we hear the doorbell ring. His G-Wagon was dropped off, back in its rightful place in the driveway. John sent over a new guitar as promised as well. Everything according to plan.

What I wasn't expecting was that afternoon, Shawn pulls me into the backyard, thousands of twinkle lights hanging from the trees as candles line a path to our little patio set by the pool.

He walks with me hand in hand to sit down on one of the couches. Picking up his new guitar from John, he starts playing "Falling All In You." My eyes tear up as my heart beams out of my chest. I go to kiss him, but he stops me.

I look at him confused as he gets up from the couch and gets on one knee in front of me. Pulling a velvet box from his pocket, he opens it to display the most uniquely beautiful diamond ring I've ever seen.

I think I space out in amazement as I don't even hear half of what Shawn says to me. The only part I catch is Shawn whistling for Tarzan as he comes running out with a bouquet of sunflowers in his mouth and a sign around his neck asking me if I'll marry his daddy.

I sob out loud as I tell Shawn and Tarzan "Yes!" before Shawn puts the ring on my finger and lifts me up and twirls me around.

A camera click breaks us out of our little moment. It's Connor, surrounded by all our friend and family.

"I can't believe you did all this!" I whisper to Shawn as I kiss him in front of everyone. This April Fools prank, turned out to be one of the best moments of my life.

The next morning as Shawn and I are celebrating our engagement; our phones go off. A new story had hit the airwaves.

"We've All Been Fooled. Celeb Couple Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Pull Off Epic Prank That Ends In Engagement!" The headline reads, as right on cue Connor posts some of our engagement photos on his Instagram.

We know things are about to get crazy, so we shut our phones off and cuddle back into each other's arms.

"I love you future Mrs. Mendes" Shawn whispers in my ear as he rolls me so I'm on my back, him hovering above me. "I love you too future Mr. Cabello" I wink.

"I can't believe we pulled it all off!" He says as he leans down to kiss me. "We make a great team" I say against his lips. He nods in agreement before "pulling the rest of it off" and showing me just how much he loves me.
