AN: Disclaimer... anything written in the upcoming chapters about Matthew's "family" are not true, only fiction and for the purpose of the story. Including names, timelines and ages.

**TW: Mentions of violence, suicide and death.**

Also the song (States Lines by Novo Amor) attached to this chapter is from my playlist for this story and it makes me think about Matthew and Haley on the trip back home, listening to this song. I'm not sure why but anyway... Enjoy!

Las Vegas: Day 5 (The Last Day)

Today is our last full day in Las Vegas.

After last night's little escapade, we were both so tired that we went to sleep as soon as we cleaned up. And, surprisingly, I'm pretty proud of my performance. Matthew seemed to throughly enjoy it, which made me enjoy it too. He always goes above and beyond to please me, so I thought I would do the same for him.

Waking up this morning was difficult, my body still exhausted from the night before. I'm laying on my stomach and my face is buried in my pillow.

"No! Don't make me get up just yet... 10 more minutes, please Matthew." I whine when he tries to get me up.

He sits on the edge of the bed, running his fingers through my hair. "Baby, we have to get ready to go. It's 11am and I'm taking you 30 minutes outside of town."

I turn my head so that I'm facing him. A small smile is on his face when he sees me turn toward him. It makes my heart swell. I love that I can be the reason he is smiling, laughing, or just being himself. All I want for him in this life is happiness. Hopefully that happiness can be with me, but if not, then so be it.

For now, I will enjoy what I have.

"Okay... okay. But if you keep scratching my head like that, I'm gonna go back to sleep. Just a warning." I giggle.

He stops playing with my hair, but before he pulls away, he tucks a piece of it behind my ear. I lean into his touch, his fingers linger on my cheek. We stare into each other's eyes for what seems like forever, but it's only a second. I chew on my bottom lip to stop from smiling. He licks his lips and whispers, "Are you gonna get up?"

A laugh erupts from my mouth at his attempt to break the tension. "Yes! I am now!"

I jump up from the bed and climb in the shower. While drying my hair, I decide I'm not gonna wear any makeup today. My skin needs a breather from all of that makeup from yesterday. I curl the ends of my hair, leaving it in a very loose, almost slept in curl.

"What do I need to wear?" I peak my head around the corner to ask Matthew.

"You can wear whatever you want. But you don't have to dress nice if that's what you're asking." He says.

Ugh this is one reason I need to know what we are doing and where we are going. But I know that he wants to surprise me. So, I just nod and pick out a cute red wrap dress with flowers on it. It comes a couple of inches above the knee. Not too casual but not too dressy. I slip on my white Keds and a dainty necklace. I grab my purse and walk back into the bedroom where Matthew is sitting on the couch. "I'm ready when you are."

He smiles, "You look pretty."

"Oh. Thank you. You too." I'm sure I'm blushing. He always says I look sexy but pretty? That's a new one.

He laughs at me, "So I'm pretty?"

Oh my god, that's what he got from that? I roll my eyes, "Yes you're pretty. Now let's go before I change my mind."
