Sophie's POV

We fell together. She levitated straight and pure as I tumbled out of control. With a breathless sigh everything faded.

I awoke in an extravagant palace library, papyrus was arranged neat and trim in orders of chronological authorial initials. She smiled and reached for a large, brown, leather book, it was around eighteen centimetres deep with the first half papyrus and the next a more refined white sheet. Ma'at opened the book to the first page, and old papyrus page with intricate hieroglyphs, she turned round the page and pointed to the top, my name.
Her soft voice read the pages as if she was telling my life story, which technically she was. "Sophie, born Sophie Of The White Dragon, Precious in the Blue, a child to Priest Aknadin and his wife Anahita Elai. Given up by her father and mother she was quickly taken by the pharaoh and made her his only daughter. Aknadin had planned to kill his daughter due to the shame. The Pharaoh's wife Aziza had just birthed two healthy boy twins, and she fitted in with the miracle as a triplet. Yet hidden below this were signs of betrayal and adultry, as Aknadin soon found out his daughter was actually the result of an affair his wife had with the Pharaoh. Blinded by anger he killed his wife after she had fled with their son. Nobody was ever to know. The place shrouded itself in secrecy, for all the subjects knew Sophie was of pure royal lineage, not a mongrel of a twisted affair." She paused, I hadn't noticed the tears that rolled down my cheeks or the fact my hands gripped onto my robe with such ferocity they would rip it in seconds. She continued, "Solomon Emperor of Japan was the only one who knew of the Pharaoh's betrayl and vowed to tell Sophie, who was now a princess, when she was old enough to understand.
Yet one fateful night deep within a dry summer, six cycles after the forbidden child had been born, a God came down from the heavens, Set. He was soon to be banished from the kingdom of the light shortly after his actions. He crept into the nursey of the three sleeping babes and cursed them. Atem and Yami were destined both to hold a millennium puzzle each, Atem's curse was that to seek control, no matter the cost. Yami's curse was to struggle to find love, due to his people's views. Sophie's curse was once her secret was out to become besotted over a god, someone she'd end up dying for." Ma'at paused and looked into my eyes, my mouth was dry and my lips were chapped. She continued, "Atem and Yami's destiny was locked with Seto and Seth's as soon as they were born. The other twins, Sophie's half brother's, were two years older than the soon to be Pharaoh's, in every way they challenged them and remained more like brother's than cousins. Sophie, however, was kept away from this by her father, she yearned to explore but was confined to the palace." Ma'at flipped around 6 cm thick of pages over and began to read again,
"Ah yes here... The young princess now of child bearing age has no betrothed man, her father died suddenly and had no opportunity to either wed her himself, one of his sons, or one of her cousins, or princes from other kingdoms. However, the princess had other plans."
She stopped and shut the book. "Us gods see all, we have your entire life scripted, only you have the ability to change what is written here." I was choked for words, my childhood was a lie. I was a lie. I was a bad omen onto my family. What made it a touch worse was the fact I was curse to die due to my heart's desire. I looked up to Ma'at and she took my hand and we were falling once again.
I awoke in a pristine bed, the sheets of pure Egyptian cotton softer than the clouds, the pillow a package of sleep sent from the gods. I opened my eyes to a foreign room, everything was bright and details in gold. Everything felt surreal. I sighed and rolled over into the deeper reaches of the plush four poster bed. Soon this information would be out, and the curses would be known, the uprisings against us would be lethal. I let my head swim with thoughts before it dove deep into sleep once again.

Mikari POV
We had been taken from the room we had woken up in and now knelt before Ra, yes Ra, in his throne room. The throne levitated upon nothing and the floor around was non existant, we were literally walking on air. Ra's voice bellowed down to us, it was deep and rash, "You must prevent the union at all costs, understand?" I nodded meekly. "You must go find this god now so we can lock him away, his name is....."

Sophie's POV
The glistening rays of the holy sun rained down through the silk covered, balcony doors. The small city looked fresh and clean, a perfected version of the mortal one, and yet I still felt empty. Gathering my wits I dressed in the bare minimum of suitable, a short robe, exposed stomach and breast wrap, followed by my crown. I applied kohl, but that was all.
After a few minutes of walking I exited the palace and found myself in the city itself. The pristine marble walls, extravagant against the sandstone path. After a few twists and turns I came to what I believed was the centre, there were people of all shapes and sizes, and animals of bizare bodies. There was one stall draped under purple satin, on a black wood bench that caught my eye. Laid upon it were beautiful weapons. Created to perfect. Death in idle beauty. There was a small man stood behind, he had a rounded belly and black hair on his exposed arms and chest, he had a simple pair of leather trousers on over which he wore an apron. He smiled as I fondled an elegant Khopesh made from gold and decorated in jewels.

Unknown POV
I crept along to the centre avoiding patrols, I needed to find her. Approaching the centre, I climbed swiftly upon the roof of the house beside me. Monkey boy. She was stood at a stall, and they were approaching her from behind. Shit.
Gathering my strength, I leapt from the roof and slowly approached her. "Hello, that's a nice Khopesh, how's about I buy that for you." I flicked my eyes to the guards ever approaching. Her warm eyes slowly froze as she saw them. "Yes, maybe we should head for a drink."
"As the lady wants." After a few steps I grabbed her soft hand and began to sprint. She wasn't fast, damn. But neither were the guards, weighed down by armour.
I whisked her swiftly out of sight down an dark alleyway behind several large pots. Breathless we watched the soldiers jog past our hiding spot.
