"Hello, my name is Alina, I am 13 years old and am from Boston, Massachusetts. My family and I have been living here, in New York for about 2 years. Since I moved here, I have excelled at my acting and modeling career. What you don't know is how or why I began these careers. Now before I tell you everything, what the~", I look up to see a blinding green light as it crashes down, as the light hits me I pass out.
ONE
My head is pounding, like someone is smashing it into a brick wall. I'm dizzy and I can feel a warm sticky fluid covering my hand. Sirens are wailing in the distance, people crying and screaming everywhere, and I can't get my body to move. The sirens and cries start to get louder and louder. My head is pounding and pounding, harder and harder. I can't take it anymore. "STOP!", I say, cradling my head in my hands, and it all stops, the pain and the noise, even the movement of the people. Adrenaline rushes into me like a waterfall, and I slowly get to my feet. Staring first at the people, and then at the floor. I start to feel queasy, there is blood everywhere. I hunch over and the memory of that green light crashing down on me is stuck, replaying itself in my head over and over. I turn my back to the people, to see a huge hole towards the back of the stage. I look down to see a small red flame, frozen in time, eating at the edges of the hole. Fascinated and confused, I turn my attention to the fire extinguisher across the auditorium. I go to jump off the stage and as I begin the descent to the blood-soaked carpet below, I float in the air.
"How am I doing this!" I say to myself, terrified. I float down slowly to the ground and start running towards the fire extinguisher, then I crack open the glass. Ignoring the cuts on my elbow, I grab it and make my way to the hole. I float up to the side of the stage, landing towards the middle of it. I then creep towards the flames, taking extreme caution not to slip, and spray the whole can onto the flames, until each and every one of them is gone, nonexistent. As the adrenaline in my body dissipates, I feel a burning sensation in my legs, my elbow, and my throat. I look down to see a bone sliding in place, and cuts sewing themselves back together. I can also feel a cut in my throat mending itself together too. Slightly relieved to see that I'm healing from injuries I didn't know I had, I am stunned. I scramble out through the double doors and into the hallway. Tons of people are frozen in their spots, with terrified faces, some carrying children, others carrying nothing. I follow the trail of frozen people to the exit, to see fire trucks and ambulances, cops and parents, everywhere. I walk towards the back looking for my mom, who is supposed to arrive at around this time. All I see is a huge lineup of cars, with only a few people in them.
Failing to keep calm, I say, "Go", and everything starts up again. I see my mom out of the corner of my eye and look up to see her texting while she's driving. She doesn't seem to notice the cement truck she is about to crash into, causing my already stressed mind to go into a more crazed state.
I scream, "Stop!", just as the car is about to make contact. Running as fast as I can to her car I'm wishing that I can go faster, and end up passing everything around me in a flash and phasing through all that stands in my way of getting to her. Noticing I am there, I stop abruptly, and turn to the car. Contemplating whether or not to push it or touch it, I decide on pushing it. Bad idea, because at the slight touch of my fingers, it rolls from the top of the hill, and starts to descend, picking up speed. Startled, I put my hand out to keep myself steady, and at the same time a light green circle, the same color as the fire is created below me. I plummet through the hole, which ends up becoming a hole in the sky, causing me to fly through the sky. I land behind her car, as it rolls downhill towards me. All I have time to do is shield my face, and the car stops mid-crash. I push it to the top of the hill, and open the car door. Inside, my mom still has the same panicked face as she did before, and it makes my heart break. I pull her out of the vehicle and lay her on the ground under a nearby tree. I then push her car beside the tree, and make time start up again. Her face quickly turns to puzzlement from worry, as soon as she sees me.
