You laid in the grass, exhausted. After a long day running, a rest was exactly what you needed. You looked up to the dark sky and began star gazing into the deep blue sky.

You made out all of the constellations you could remember. It was a difficult task but made you feel closer to the person you used to be.

You tried doing a lot of remembering. Songs, stars, anything. You specifically remembered one song. Not the name but you remembered the tune. Unconsciously, you began humming it.

"Hey, Y/n." You quickly stopped and looked up. Gally. "Star-gazing again?" He let out that small chuckle that you loved and recognised so much.

"What else would I do?" You smiled and patted the empty area of grass next to you. "I saved you a spot too." You winked at his upside down grin.

"How about we join the others tonight? Or is joining at least one bonfire too much of a crazy idea, m'lady." He offered his hand.

Begrudgingly, you took it. "Do we have to?"

"Please," Gally pulled you closer to him and positioned you both as if you were about to slow dance your way over there. "just one time? You've not been to a bonfire yet." He almost complained. "Let me show you how much fun it is." His whisper filled your gut with butterflies.

Not being able to argue back, you sighed and nodded. He excitedly began dragging you along with him towards the lit fire and shouting boys.

You always watched the bonfire from afar when it's light was too bright to see the stars and the yelling was too loud to hear your song. It looked exhausting. The Gladers said it was fun but you doubted they ever remembered the night.

Quickly, Gally brought you towards a group
of boys. Winston, Jeff, Zart and Ben. Gally's usual gang - minus Adrian.

"Guess who I convinced to loosen up." Gally announced.

Furrowing your brows, you playfully punched his shoulder. "Actually, all I agreed to was joining." You smirked, leaning close to Gally's face so he got the message clearly.

Cheekily, Gally wrapped his hands around your waist and hoisted you into a dance that barely hung onto the rhythm of the drums. You laughed and willing began joining it.

For about two minutes, you jumped about and hopped along to the beat but eventually, you were bound to get tired. You broke from Gally and sat down on a log. Sweat beaded on your forehead, then you decided to take your jacket off. Leaving you only in your work tank and khakis.

A second later, Gally was back at your side. "Done already? Thought you were a runner?" He teased you.

Rolling your eyes, you shouted over the loud thudding, "Saving my energy. If you had any brains, you'd have worked that out!" Too quickly, he tackled you over the log and onto the grass. "Gally!"

Laughing, you looked up at the boy leaning over the top of you. He smiled, his eyes full of adoration and safety. You smelt the sweat and wood clippings on him; Gally's usual demeanour.

"You look pretty like this, for a first." He grinned. You punched his jaw and pushed him off of you. "I'm joking, slinthead." He giggled.

You sat back up onto the log and smirked at the defeated boy. It took him a minute to get back up but soon he was back up again. Gally rested his head on your lap and spread out over the log.

"Shuck-face." You murmured.

"Shank."

"Piece of klunk."

"Shucking shucker."

Both of you exchanged a look, then you both erupted back into laughter. You covered your face and muffled your laugh your sleeve as people began looking. Adoringly, Gally's eyes didn't leave your face for less than a second. He'd always told you how much he loved your smile and you'd blush every time.
