TW: Violence, wings being cut off

Roman sat on the beach, soaking wet and holding onto Virgil's dead phone. The salt water was stinging his injury, but he didn't care.

He had searched for what felt like hours on the seafloor after he tortured and killed Drakon, thinking maybe he wasn't too late.

But there was no sign of anyone. Maybe that was a good thing? Maybe that meant all of them got out? Or maybe they all slid into the sea ravine.

He didn't know what to do. What could he do?

He heard fluttering behind him and summoned his sword. He stood up and spun around, putting his sword under the angels chin.

"Ethan," he growled, tears in his eyes.

Ethan put his hands up and took a step back. "I'm not here to fight," he told Roman.

"I don't care, what's keeping me from ripping your wings off?"

"Roman!" they heard another voice.

They both turned to see Patton and Logan running towards them, Zoe practically pulling Patton.

Roman dropped his sword for a moment. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Did you think I would sit by while my nephew is being hunted down by angels?" Patton asked. "Better question, what is he doing here?" He pointed to Ethan, pulling out his angel blade.

Zoe growled at Ethan, but stayed by Patton's side.

"Leaving," Roman said. "I'll get you back later."

"Roman where's Virgil?" Patton asked.

Roman opened his mouth to answer, but his emotions finally overwhelmed him and he ended up letting out a sob. He looked back to the ocean.

"That explosion we saw earlier," Logan said. "Was that..."

"I don't know how much you know, but I took Virgil to my brother's underwater palace, but there was another demon who was fighting my brother," Roman told them, desperately trying to keep the tears out of his voice. "I went to kill him before he could attack with Virgil in the palace, but I was too late. I called Virgil to warn him but... it's all my fault."

Patton took a few steps towards the sea before falling to his knees. "Oh Virgil..."

"I looked everywhere for them. I could only- only find Virgil's phone." Roman held it out.

Logan took it, looking at the cracked and dead screen.

"Do you think he's still out there?" Patton asked.

"He is," Ethan said. "I know where he is, and I can take you to him."

Roman growled, lunging forward and grabbing Ethan's shirt. He put his blade against Ethan's neck and put just enough pressure to make him bleed.

"Woah, Roman!" Logan shouted.

"I swear to Lucifer if you hurt him I will hunt you down to the ends of the Earth and make you regret ever crossing my path," Roman warned, tears slipping out of his eyes.

"I-I didn't! He's still with your brother and Janus. Adrian, the angel above me, thinks he's dead."

"How do I know you're not lying?"

"Angels don't lie."

"Oh well, alright then, I guess I should just forget that you pretended to be our friend! Virgil trusted you and then you tried to stab him!"
