Wednesday evening arrived faster than we had imagined. We were all crammed up in the back room of the bar, going over our plan one last time before Ryan and the others had to go on stage.
Everyone was busy wishing each other luck and praying for everything to go as planned. No one else from the bar except Sam knew about our plan. We had to tell Sam, to make sure we had some kind of backup if needed. He didn't know about my real identity but only knew that I had some men following me and that we would be attempting to dodge them tonight. That was more than enough.
I slowly walked over to Ryan, who was busy going over some final routines with Evan and the others, and tugged at the hem of his shirt lightly to draw his attention. He looked over at me and his eyes softened instantly. " Hey, Sunflower, " He said slowly while snaking his arms around my waist. I looked up at him.
A slow smile spread over his face and he tucked a small strand of hair behind my ear, " You look beautiful, Eve. " I beamed at him and he chuckled lightly. I was wearing a long buffed sleeved off-white shirt with a tanned skirt and thigh highs. It wasn't much, but I still found myself blushing at his compliment.
His eyes moved over my face slowly as if caressing it gently. He was rubbing slow unconscious circles on my waist. In his eyes, I saw a small hint of fear and nervousness. He was scared something would go wrong today. I lifted my hand and placed it delicately over his heart.
A steady beat thrummed beneath my fingers getting slightly faster by the minute, and I listened to it with a strange fascination. His eyes followed my movement and he covered my hand with his large warm one keeping it in its place. He curled one finger of his other hand under my chin and slowly lifted my eyes to his.
" Please, take care of yourself, Sunflower. I don't want you getting hurt in any way. " He looked at me with a serious look, his fingertips brushing against the smooth skin of my face. " You're too important to me now. " His whispered softly and an unnamed emotion swam through his ocean eyes.
I nodded my head at his words and stood on my toes a little to curl my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug. Turning my head slightly, I whispered in his ear, " Don't worry, I have a gun with me. " He chuckled and shook his head, pulling me closer into him. I laid my head on his shoulder and squeezed back, a loving smile stretching across my face. This felt good.
After a few minutes, we heard Evan calling Ryan over. Sighing, I pulled myself away from his embrace. "Take care and rock that stage, " I smiled at him. He turned his head to place a small kiss on my cheek and then walked outside glancing back at me a few more times. I sighed. My heart was thumping against my chest nervously.
Please God let everyone be okay today.
Two sets of arms suddenly linked with mine and I smiled over at Jenny and Soph. They were smiling back at me. "We can do this, Eve! " Sophia said encouragingly and I nodded my head. Yup, we can do this.
