As I was nearing the house, I could hear yelling. And when I got close enough, I could see that it came from people standing on our doorstep. They were armed.

"Where is she?"

"Where is the Grisha!?"

"Oh, I can't wait to get my hand on her."

Mrs. Tonovački couth my eyes and mouthed "The back."

"What is happening?" I asked as I entered the house thought the back door. By the sound of screaming more and more people were coming.

"Listen to me Ember. Take this and run! Run as fast and far as you can!" she replied while putting some food in the bag and then giving it to me.

"But why? Why are they here?" I asked again while trying to glimpse at what was happening outside.

"Someone..." she exhaled. "Someone saw you use your abilities and they don't like them. They think you work for Grisha and want to question you, and then..." she said while tearing up and looking at her shoes. Well, that then can't mean anything good.

She looked back up at me. "Ember listen. Since I, since we both saw you as a baby there laying under the tree. We knew you were something special. But even if we wouldn't, you were still just an abonded baby so we took you in. We didn't know if we would keep you, but we feel in love with you. And as you aged, that love grew with you. We love you so much! I love you so much! So please. Run and don't ever come back. Or at least until it's save." she barely whispered the end as she took her soft palms from my cheeks and hugged me.

"I love you guys too." I whispered after we pulled back. She started at me which such love in her eyes and then kissed my forehead. After a little more glances she turned around and went to help Mr. Tonovački hold the people back.

As I was about to walk through the back door a sad little voice stopped me.

"Are you leaving us?" I heard Autumn ask.

I turned toward her, crouched down and hugged her. "Yes pumpkin. But I'm leaving for us. You see, as long as I stay here, you, your parents and even I aren't safe. Those people outside are bad people. They... they don't like me very much and that is why I have to leave."

"Forever?" She asked me with her puppy dog eyes getting teary.

"I.. I don't know." Right as those words left my mouth, tears started pouring down her face.

"No, not forever. I'll come back one day. And we'll have this big picnic with chocolate covered strawberries that you love so much. Okay?" I 'corrected' my sentence.

"Promise?" She asked after kissing her pinky and putting it in the air.

"Promise." I replied after also kissing and connection our pinkies. I hope I'll get to keep that promise.

I hugged her one last time and then walked out through the door.

I tried to stay as hidden as I could and blend in with the streets since I pretty much had to walk infront of them to get back to my field where I would make my plans where to go next.

And just as I was about to step out of their view: "Hey you! STOP!"

"IT'S THE WITCH!"

"Let's get her!"

I took of running as fast as I could but they were slowly catching up on me. The only advantage that I had was that I knew the territory a bit better and knew how to move through it without falling (which happened to quite a lot of them).

Once I got to the field, I reached for the wind with my hands and blow them on their buts to give me a head start again since they were right behind me by now.

When I started running, I didn't know I was basically running towards a dead end.

"She went down towards the fold! Come on! The little witch can't run much more foward anymore!" I heard the men scream as they were coming closer and closer.

But just as I was about to give up and wait for them to take me, something or someone pulled me into the fold.
