I was upset, the kind that makes you run very long distances, losing track of time and all, it is now 6:00 AM and I trying to find Al and Amber, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me left them alone, Amber was drunk and vulnerable and Al was getting better but he was still weak, and again I have managed to disappoint them and myself. Finally, I found where we camp for the night, the sun already burned out the corpse of the vampire to dust, but their remains were still obvious, as for Al and Amber I saw no signs of them, their bags were gone, I couldn't track them, it's been days since I have gotten human blood and my scents were fading.
Stooping down where the campfire was lit, I swirled my finger in the damped ash, gliding it between my finger before I smelled it,
"Humans," I hissed, what put out the fire was urine... Human urine, most likely from W.I.K.D,
Hearing the clicks behind my head, I snarled, realizing what this was, it was a trap and I walked right into it,
"Nice and slow," the person behind me mumbled, a voice I would recognize even in deep sleep,
"McCarthy," I groaned as I stood slowly with my hands in the air, it was that W.I.K.D agent that was in charge the night I was shot at on the roof,
"Glad to see you remember me... I am touched... Really,"
"You really had it out for me from the first day we met... Even though we haven't officially met, my name is Celestine Baker... At least that's what I am told,"
"Yeah... Yeah, save the introductions, right now, you're coming with me," he gripped firmly into my shoulder, twisting me around to face him,
"Move it," he nudges with his head, keeping his gun fixed on me. The veins in his neck stood firm under his skin, calling out to me, all I needed was a taste but I wasn't sure if I had enough energy to move fast enough, but I am sure I could take him, it's one on one right? But the thing I have learned with W.I.K.D, they never travel alone
"Where are they?"
"Your friends are not dead," he sneered, "You should be thanking God because if it was up to me I would be delivering your heads in a glass box. Now move!"
"I don't take threats, you remember that deputy on the roof right, he was example number one, don't be number two,"
Fisting me repeatedly in the stomach, I whimpered with a crouch as my insides churned with pain, but that didn't stop me, I needed to get under McCarthy's skin so I lure out the rest, he was nothing but a hot-headed, out of a control agent who needs to be retrained,
"I am not going to ask you again Baker, move and don't let me move you,"
Chuckling I hauled my tongue across my blood-stained teeth, spitting out the ruby-red blood that trickled down my lips,
"Is that all you got?"
Hoisting his hand to hit me again, a voice stopped him in his tracks, calling out from behind the bushes,
"That's enough agent," he emerged from the bark, along with two other W.I.K.D members, Al and Amber in front, bonded by some device. Al looks as if he took a beating, Amber was still intoxicated
"Detective Binns... What a shock seeing you here,"
"Where is Maurice?"
"I told you..." I studied the four men well, "I killed him and drank his blood,"
"And where is the body?"
"No idea. You should ask the two men that chased me out of the cemetery, I bet they know,"
