"Explain to us what you saw." Tony grew impatient as he waited for Raven to speak."This bright spherical ball of energy was hidden in this room and when I went and reached for it, it exploded on me."
"What about the color, do you remember?" Bruce asked, writing notes on his clipboard.
"It was white at first but it started changing colors as soon as I got close to it."
"Was it connected to anything?" Tony interjected.
Raven shrugged, "I don't know, I was too drawn in to it to even pay attention to anything else."
Tony sighed exasperatedly, "alright this will do. Anything else that stood out to you?"
Raven tried her hardest to remember every bit of detail that was in the room, anything that caught her attention. Besides the pool of blood and the sharp object that she used to escape the restraints of the chair she was tied to, nothing else stood out. She grew frustrated at the fact that there was nothing useful she would have remembered in that room. She was still left with a lot of questions that have yet to be answered.
"No." Raven uttered, diverting her eyes toward her feet.
Wanda could tell that Raven was disappointed that the serum didn't give her anything that she doesn't already know. Despite feeling the pain she once felt the first time she took the serum, it at least gave her a piece of her past that she didn't know.
After everyone had gone their separate ways, Raven excluded herself from everyone. Her mind was playing tricks on her and she couldn't quite pinpoint the idea of what her brain wanted. She sat on her bed, the key that Rao had given her remained in her hand where she gawked at it even more. She thought about going to the location to find out more about her hidden past instead of relying on a liquid that could potentially jumpstart her memories.
Raven doesn't know what to do. She's not even sure if the location actually exists or Rao might've played her. Going to the storage facility was her last choice given the fact that she has little to no choices offered for her. Frustration growing stronger, Raven threw herself on to the bed, diverting her attention toward the ceiling. She thought about a lot of things. Her choices, her dreams, and most importantly, Wanda. The woman in the other room was the only person that could talk some sense into her. The only person she would listen to, let alone care about their opinion.
Two knocks on the door pulled her out of her concentration. She turns around seeing Wanda approach her with a warm smile.
"Everything okay?"
Raven sighed, "no. . . I guess you could say I got my hopes up for nothing."
Wanda took a seat next to her, "I'm sorry that it didn't quite work out the way you wanted it to."
"Yeah, me too."
Raven couldn't bring herself to look at her. She was disappointed and ashamed that her memories seemed to be playing tricks on her. It's the one thing she thought she could control but it turns out she controls nothing in her life. Tears started to form in her eyes as she grew aggravated by herself, feeling completely useless.
As silence fills the room, Wanda thought of an idea. Thinking back to when she mind controlled the entire avengers teaming when they were fighting Ultron, maybe she could do something with her powers that might help the troubled woman next to her. She didn't like getting into people's heads simply because she felt like she was invading their space on another level. Their thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams; she could feel all of it. She never wanted to control the avengers in the first place but at the time her mind was not steered straight.
"I think I can help you." Wanda cleared the silence. "My powers. . . if I could get inside your head, maybe I can steer you to the right path."
"You're willing to do that?" Raven asked, hopeful. "I know how much you didn't like doing it last time."
Wanda smiled, taking Raven's hand, "I'd do anything for you."
Hearing those words utter out of Wanda's mouth was a relief to Raven. It touched her heart in a way no one else ever could. The only person that meant the world to her was able to ease her heart in a matter of seconds.
A wave of red crimson energy started to flow through Wanda's fingers. She watches it intently as she spin her hand clockwise, her power well contained. Carefully, she hovers it beside Raven's temples, letting the energy rifle out of her middle finger and into her mind.
Wanda closes her eyes shut, focused on the sensation she's always felt. She follows this feeling until she finally sees something.
Darkness. Wanda sees nothing but pure, pitch black darkness. There was no source of light in the room and it didn't seem like it was built for light to emit. Then, in the middle of the room a light shone on a very weak and helpless figure. When she finally got closer to it, her eyes widened as she saw Raven tied up in a chair. She was covered in blood, every part of her body was beaten to a pulp. Shocked at the sight of the woman in this state, Wanda covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face.
"Please. . . just kill me."
Raven begged, her voice was barely audible. The hint of finally coming to a conclusion that she would never get out of this alive was very obvious. Wanda could see how and feel the amount of pain she has suffered. She wanted to leave, she didn't want to see any more of this. Watching the love of her life go through something so cruel and evil was more than enough for break. She could feel a wave of rage taking over her body, and there was only one thing she wanted to do. Kill this man.
Someone stormed in, "The building is going down we have to go."
"What do we do about the girl?" The man who tortured Raven asked.
"Leave her."
Wanda diverted her eyes at the person that spoke. Another man, around his mid thirties emerged out of the darkness.
"She's as good as dead anyway."
"Right away Mr. Woods."
Wanda's heart fell at the pit of her stomach. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. It couldn't be. That can't possibly be Raven's father.
Everyone left but him. Wanda watches him intently as he paces himself around a barely-alive Raven. Her head was hunched over, her breathing pattern was little to none. She didn't have much time left in her.
The man pulled Raven's hair back, her bare face which was covered in blood was now visible. Wanda clenched her jaw, angered at the man in front of her.
"You deserve every pain you're feeling. You are nothing but a mistake. You killed your mom and your sister. You're nothing but a monster. Now, you're going to die in this building you freak!"
The man threw her head back aggressively causing the chair to fall over. The man took one good look at the unconscious woman before leaving the room.
