As The World Caves In

ch. 29

Nat scrambled in fear as she couldn't find the sokovian woman anywhere in the building. The worst possible scenarios played inside of her head like a broken record. The last time she had seen her was late last night in the conference room where she stayed up all night trying to find a strong lead.

"Stark, have you seen Wanda? I can't find her anywhere." Nat entered the billionaire's office with her hands inside her pockets.

"She probably just went outside to get some air." Tony mumbled under his breath as his attention remained at the screen of his computer. "That girl has been cooped inside the conference room ever since Woods left."

"Can you blame her? All she wants is to have Raven back safe and sound." Nat said in disbelief. "We're just as part of this problem as she is. We shouldn't have lied to her, Stark."

Tony sighed in guilt, "I suppose you're right. Things have been tough for her these past couple of months."

"We have to do something before we lose her too."

Nat couldn't bear to lose another member of her team. Even though she was trained extensively on how to control her own emotion, the former assassin learned to open herself up more around her team. They made her feel safe and that she could trust again.

Little did she know that she indeed lost another member of her family. It's only a matter of time before everyone else figures it out.

It's only been fourteen hours since she was captured, but to Wanda, it felt like an eternity. They did every mind-game torture known to man, all of it enough to bring immense pain both physically and mentally.

They were cruel. Each and everyone that tortured her. They all had a smile on their face, getting off on her agony. It's unbelievable how a psychotic mind works when they are in action.

After getting whipped in the back numerous times in the past hour, the Sokovian woman felt like she's at the verge of falling off a cliff, to her immense death. Her eyes felt heavy as it's taking almost all of her energy to keep it open.

The idea of giving up came inside of her head plenty of times. Every time she would hear their footsteps and their constant murmurs about what kind of torture they would do to her, it is enough to send a fire-like shiver down her spine.

As if the torture wasn't enough, they had her hands tied up to the ceiling, her entire body close to hovering the floor beneath her. The burn marks on her wrist from all the times she tried to wiggle herself out started to hurt more as her flesh would grow tender with every movement. She couldn't help it sometimes. Whenever they would inflict pain on her body, her arms would naturally sway to the side, causing her more pain than she's already feeling.

The lights on the ceiling flickered vigorously, which could only mean one thing. They are about to shock her again. Wanda dreaded this part the most. Out of all the torture that she had to endure, this one by far was the worst out of all of them. They would soak her in water first, then they would send electricity through the wirings attached to her body, giving her a type of pain that would only make her feel fragile and weak. She found it surprising that she's lasting this long after all the torture.

Underneath everything that has happened ever since she arrived, her consciousness remained glued to her lover, giving her enough strength to go by. She hasn't seen her yet, which can only mean that she doesn't know that the redhead is there.

Wanda couldn't decide if it's a good thing or not. She would do anything to see those familiar hazel eyes once again, but she knows that she's asking for a lot, considering that the the person she fell in love with could possibly no longer exist.
