Month of May

Gabie had just left a stressful family meeting in one of the many tall sky scrappers of Manhattan. She met with a bunch of lawyers and accountants for what felt like the hundredth time, regarding the death of her father and more specifically, the heritage...

Her father, Philip had passed away one year ago and all of this heritage bullshit was still not over with because every single family member and their moms was trying to get a piece. Gabie thought it was disgusting to see her family be more upset over who gets what than his actual death. Not that they would ever admit it though, but they didn't need to. She couldn't believe that she was related to such greedy gold diggers. She always knew that her family was a little fucked up when it came to money (amongst else) but this was the cherry on top.

The past few months had been traumatic for her because of this fucking bullshit that was going on. Usually in times of chaos, her pillar was her dad. Dr. Philip Scott. He was a successful doctor in NYC who had won several awards for his outstanding achievements and his many researches. He was a great man and an even greater father. He had tragically passed away at the age of only 58 years old due to an aggressive form of cancer that developed in his body in less than 5 months. 'The irony' Gabie thought to herself. He spent decades caring for patients all while he couldn't care for himself when he needed to. Gabie was absolutely devastated by his death. It had been 11 months now, and she was still not over it, she would never be.

Although she was distracted by the family drama that in some ways distracted her from the pain she was feeling on the inside. Which is what she was used to, she would always distract herself anytime she would feel emotions. Happy, sad, angry, anxious, you name it, she doesn't like feelings at all. Her new therapist made her realize that she is comfortable in neutrality. Which is not necessarily a good thing. Dr. Tom Hiddleston is her current therapist and he is a blessing in her life.

Running from her problems is what she does best. To avoid emotions and all. It's a defence mechanism that she developed over the years of mental and verbal abuse from her mother. She is a genuinely happy person though, thanks to her dad that was always there for her. Now that he's not here anymore, you could say things got a bit more complicated...

She'd known for years that she needed to escape her family by moving out of town. But she could never bring herself to do it because she had a close relationship with her father. Now that he was gone, she needed out more than ever before. ASAP. Obviously, it wouldn't be easy even if she had been thinking about it for years. It would kill her to leave her absolute soulmate of a best friend, Scarlett behind but it was killing her faster to stay with her family. Scarlett understood though. She's even the one who suggested that Gabie move to LA.
