Rage bubbled beneath a calm exterior, and I froze as my mind flashed to the horrible things I'd do to the men and women in that submarine; daring to kidnap a mermaid!
Meir kept her gaze trained on the submarine, her body shaking with anger and disgust - two seconds away from ripping that submarine to pieces and letting the humans within die in the depths of the ocean. I had to admit, her plan did have a certain appeal to it.
I locked my eyes on the mermaid inside the submersible - trying to memorize her features as I plotted creative revenge on anyone who was inside that submarine - they all deserved to die. Maybe the mermaid's unhuman-like cherry-red curls, with copper highlights, would be beautiful if not for the fact it was tangled, and fell limply down her shoulders, sticking to her face because of the oil and blood. Her glowing and unmistakable purple and swirling violet eyes might have been pretty if they were not filling with tears, and looking broken and shattered. Her skin was a light chocolate brown color, streaked with dirt, grim, angry bruises, and blood. She was scarily thin, clearly undernourished, and where curves might have been, there were instead bones jutting out of her body in odd angles.
For the first time in my life, I was ready to kill. I imagined ripping their heads from their throats, then leaving them to suffocate in the ocean grasp.
The mermaid looked so... defeated. It was something that would haunt me till my dying day.
Alton was steadily growing red, as his anger grew - he was furious, a rare thing for my five-year-old brother.
One man - light brown hair, cruel black eyes, peach-colored skin - taunted the mermaid, leering at her as he let out a cruel laugh. I couldn't hear anything, but I read the mermaid's lips as she snarled at him, struggling against the chains. It was no use, she hadn't been in the water in days, and was clearly undernourished, tortured, and weak. She couldn't break free.
My rage spilled.
I had to get her out.
I darted forward, out of view from the sub's lights, but in the mermaid's peripheral vision.
A woman scolded the black-eyed man, shaking her head, as she knelt down next to the mermaid, showing her a plate of fish with an apologetic expression. The woman then untied the mermaid slightly, rolling her eyes when the black-eyed, brown-haired man exploded in rage - apparently having the mermaid eat was showing her too much kindness. Another man, Asian, with blond hair and brown eyes, pushed the other man back, shaking his head as the mermaid began to feast, using her long nails as knives. There were three men, including the black-eyed brown-haired man, the blond-haired Asian man, along with another man, one I think was the copilot, with salt and pepper hair and hazel eyes. There were two women, one the pilot with caramel hair matching her caramel skin, and the other the nice blue-eyed woman who had helped the mermaid.
