It had been two weeks since the night of and after the party. George currently lays in bed, thinking over everything that had happened for what seemed like the millionth time.
He wanted Dream to want him, not for this to be a one time thing. Maybe it was because George didn't know Dream truly, genuinely liked him, but he was afraid they wouldn't have any more moments like that.
George knew that if he didn't say something to him he wouldn't get any more chances. Maybe if he was lucky, Dream would put on that sweet voice, the one he'd use whenever George was anxious over another small thing, and tell him that it was only him that he wanted. If he wasn't, slowly things would become weird between them. Awkward glances to each other in crowds, trying to avoid each other; Refusing to be paired together in party games; And experiencing the awkward tension that immediately rose in the room when Sapnap leaves to grab something.
He didn't give a second thought to picking up his phone. He felt physically tired but his mind wasn't going to let him sleep until he got this dreadful conversation over with. He tapped in his pin and was underwhelmed with the low notifications--he had only swiped through them a few minutes ago, leaving him with no excuse to procrastinate now.
There was a hesitance before George pushed the call button. The phone rung for a few moments before the other line answered.
"Hello?"
George paused, starting to regret calling in the first place. He'd always been bad at confrontation and serious conversations- so why did he think it would be a good idea to have one that could potentially ruin a friendship? But maybe he was wrong, maybe it'd create something more than a friendship.
"Hey, could you come over? I think we should talk." He let a small breath escape his lips as his finger tapped his knee nervously, something he would subconsciously do when he felt panicky.
On the other side of the phone, Dream couldn't help the smile that crept onto his face. "Sure, you alright?"
Relief from the simple answer seeped through his bones and his body relaxed from when it was tensed up.
"Yeah everything's fine, see you soon?"
"I'll see you soon."
The call ended and George went to get up, walking straight out of the bedroom to find something to occupy himself while waiting for Dream. He only lived about ten to fifteen minutes away so George figured he'd just watch another episode of the current show he was watching, wentworth.
He got comfortable on the couch, pulling a soft and fuzzy blanket over his lap. He saw Cat strut over to the couch and by Georges feet. A smile spread over his face as she hopped up besides him with a little meow.
"Hi, baby." He whispered as he smoothed the blanket for her to get comfortable on. The little grey kitten curled up besides George and he pet her a few times before searching for the remote. Looking under the blanket, the cushions around his cat, and on the coffee table, it didn't turn up.
He scoffed in annoyance. He'd managed to find the most comfortable position there could possibly be but of course, the remote just had to be missing. He decided he didn't want to get uncomfortable and scare cat away so instead, he pulled out his phone. On it he settled on scrolling through tiktok, skimming over plenty of videos yet finding no interest in them.
With each scroll he just began to overthink an zone out more, his leg juddered with anxiousness. He just didn't know why. Its not like it was a big deal as if telling him his best friend was dead or something like that, it was just a conversation about 'what they were.' Something about the whole thing just made George awfully stressed.
