His phone rung, buzzing against the marble of Georges kitchen counter. Dream hurried into the kitchen, his socks slid across the slick floor almost resulting in him falling on his ass. He picked up the phone and answered before the person on the other line had the chance to hang up--it was a face time request from Sapnap.
"Dream!" The voice rung out through the speaker. "You haven't said a word to me in days! What the hell!" He didn't sound angry, maybe just bitter neither of his two closest friends had talked to him since the day of the party.
He tensed up in only a seconds matter, "Yeah, yeah I know..I've just been.. busy recently." George came strolling in the kitchen, quickly leaving once he saw Dream shooing him away with his hand below his waist. He could tell it was Sapnap on the screen, and it was likely he'd be upset if he found out they'd been unintentionally ignoring him for each other.
Dream felt guilty for that. Being so focused on his love life, he forgot that he had friends who needed him besides George, who even though was more than a friend, was soaking his attention up like a sponge on water. Of course, George didn't mean too, and he was giving attention to Dream just as much as he was receiving, they were both just so caught up in the moment.
Sapnap switched the subject, "You talk to George recently?" He asked with a monotone voice. Sapnap was anything but lacking common sense. He could make out the background to be Georges house no matter what blank wall Dream stood in front of. Even being the youngest of the group, right now it felt like he was babysitting two kids--who were trying to cover up something but failing very badly. It was so painfully obvious to anyone who had eyes.
Dream was dismayed. He didn't want Sapnap to feel left out but wouldn't it make him a worse friend to lie to him? Yeah, probably, "Nup', he went MIA, probably sleeping." He gave a half-hearted laugh through his nostrils. It was feigned but he tried to make it seem as genuine as he could, his joke wasn't all that funny, anyways.
"Sounds like him, we should hang out soon, theres this new bar opening up downtown, you dig?" Sapnap didn't say anymore about it and Dream was glad.
Dream gave a more authentic laugh this time, though there wasn't a joke heard in the air. "You dig? Really, Sap?," He sighed, "You're not even 21 yet."
Over the face time call, Sapnap rolled his eyes, moving right past Dreams comment on his vocabulary. "Fake ID would work, Yeah? Are you coming or not?"
"Yeah, I guess I dig." He chuckled one more time, watching as Sapnap harshly stuck his middle finger up at him and the face time screen faded back into his home screen--indicating the call had ended. He slipped the phone back into his pocket.
"George!" He called out, luring George back into the kitchen with the simple noise of his voice. Ambling into the well decorated and clean kitchen came George, a detectable look of wary unsureness lingering in his expression.
He didn't say a word but his eyes asked a question for themselves.
"I don't think hes too upset, and I don't think he realizes were together." Dream responded with a shrug.
And oh boy was he wrong.
George seemed irritated, not with the answer he received, just irritated in general. He nodded in a half-assed response before turning back around to walk out, Dream placed his hand on his shoulder, halting him.
George turned his head, looking at him and waiting for him to say something. Dream tilted his head in question, George mirrored his actions, unsure of what he was confused about.
"Something wrong? You feelin' okay?" He lifted and pressed the back of his hand to Georges forehead, which looked more pale than usual, George responded in pulling away with an ill-natured look.
