Jakes eyes were fixated onto hers, sending chills to curl down her spine, he wasn't the boy she thought he was. As their stare grew longer and more intense, anxiety filled the air around her, as he silently tilted his head to the side before breaking out into a maniacal grin.
Swiftly lunging forward, his body connected with hers, wrapping the crook of his arm tightly around her neck, and the other hand to cover her mouth to stop her from screaming, well to stop her from making any noise at all. Left defenceless and unable to call for help, despite her kicking and pushing as hard as she could, all of the attempts to escape his hold were still futile. Alone in the room, she was held captive within his grip. Tears were brimming in her eyes as they began to turn red from the pressure building in her head, still able to breathe although it had been significantly restricted, all of her struggles were making it harder to get enough of the oxygen that she needed to keep fighting. Pushing his forearm harder into her neck, her movements became weaker as her body still fought against his. In one final try, she wrapped her fingers around his arms that were still grasping her neck, hard enough for them to turn white as she tried once more to get him off. Insignificant and feeble, she couldn't fight him anymore.
As time began to blur and her surroundings became distorted, the tightness of Jakes arm loosened from her body. He pulled away but without his support, she could no longer stand by herself. Her palms weren't strong enough to catch her as she fell, landing harshly onto the tiled floor. Smashing her head on the wall adjacent to where she had stood in Jakes control, his words lost their clarity as his figure grew closer to hers. Managing just enough to pull her body up and lean onto the side, her senses were still deceiving her. Squinting her eyes to try and see him clearer. Knowing she was fighting a losing battle and things were only going to get worse from now. The pounding at the side of her head and the pain radiating from her neck had worsened when she knew he had not finished with her just yet.
Her voice raspy and cracked with fear, Sienna choked out, " Why. Why are you doing this Jake?... I haven't done anything. I thought we were friends."
Her words stopped him in his path, as he looked at her with a new found curiosity. A look of questioning appeared on his face however it was as if he was thinking about what one to ask first. The grin she saw just moments ago had returned, he sat himself down on the floor next to her. Just a foot or two away, sitting crossed legged, he moved some lose strands of hair off from her face and tucked them behind her ear. With his thumb, he gently swiped the trickling blood from a small cut on her cheek away. Pulling back, the two were now looking eye to eye.
" Don't play dumb Sienna. I know you know". He snapped.
Running through her own thoughts, she was trying to make sense of what he was saying. To her knowledge, she didn't know anything about anything of significance.
" You are something important to me. You're not what I need, but because of what you are, you're part of something to help me get to what I need" Jake said fiercely.
Something clicked as a train of thoughts flooded in, she refused to believe he knew about her. No one could possibly know about what she was or for some reason could do. Nobody. The times when she was almost connected to a person enough to feel their pain, but constantly having to hide that part of herself from the world around her. Not knowing why she could do it, not even understanding her own mind and body. Her mind attempted to wander to other possibilities, but ultimately she knew what he meant when said 'what you are'. Because she knows she's different, but she doesn't even know what she is.
He saw her expression change when her mind went to the darkest part of herself, the part left unknown about what she could do. The smile grew on him as if he was reading her thoughts.
