"Lilac, you already know what I'm going to say." Lilac and Andi were seated in the bustling dining hall at the height of lunch hour. Today, Lilac was panicking a little bit and Andi was doing her best to be the voice of reason.

"I do know what you're going to say-"

"Say it," Andi demanded.

"Don't think, just do, I know," Lilac said, "But-"

"No," Andi interrupted. "No buts. You're overthinking this and you know it."

"I have to think sometimes," Lilac rebutted, and Andi smiled.

"Of course you do. But you also know that overthinking isn't going to help. It's a simple question with a simple answer, and you've already answered it." Lilac sighed. In her heart of hearts, she knew Andi was right. Of course she was. When it came to helping Lilac settle down when her brain was on hyperspeed, Andi was always right.

"The logical part of my brain is fighting tooth and nail to think of something in response right now," Lilac informed Andi, laughing a little. "It's stupid."

"Let it fight until it runs out of strength and you'll circle right back to your answer," Andi shrugged, taking the last bites of her lunch. Lilac took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment and then opening them.

"Okay," She said after a long moment.

"Now, from the top," Andi instructed. "Make it simple."

"Sap called me today, as he always does," Lilac began, keeping the story as cut-and-dry as possible in her mind.

"Right," Andi said.

"And he asked me if I wanted to come down and visit him and Clay."

"I'm following," Andi nodded.

"I want to go," Lilac said, and Andi couldn't help but give her a look.

"I sense that you're not going to stop here, but you already have your answer."

"The problem is that George is still there," Lilac continued, brain gearing up to get overly complex again.

"Why is that a problem?" Andi asked, trying to keep Lilac from overthinking again. "Give me the reason in one sentence." Lilac composed herself, thinking of the simplest way to explain how she was feeling.

"If I go while he's there, I'll be taking away from the time they get to spend together as friends. George doesn't get to come down from England very often- rarely ever- and I don't want to encroach."

"That's two sentences, but I'll let it slide," Andi said. "I understand where you're coming from. You don't want to feel like you're interrupting, right?"

"Right."

"Then Lilac," Andi began, leaning her head on her hand as she looked across the table, "Do you think Sap would have offered anything if he and Clay didn't want you there?" Lilac couldn't answer. She knew in her heart of hearts (in her spade of spades) that Andi was right, but the fear still gnawed at her.

"You're right," Lilac said after a long stretch of silence.

"But you're still worried."

"I am," Lilac admitted, "But I'm going to ignore it and just do what I want to do. I'm going to call Sap back and tell him I'm coming down." Andi smiled.

"There's the decision-making non-indecisiveness I know and love." Andi put up her fist, and Lilac knocked her own fist against it, and then they both snapped and finger-gun-pointed at each other.
