"Violet!" Lilac raised an eyebrow as George threw open the door and greeted her with a new nickname.
"Oh, I'm Violet now?" She asked, and George nodded.
"It's high time you got a new flower name," He informed her. "I already changed it in my contacts, so it's Violet until I decide to change it again. Lilac chuckled.
"I suppose that I can't argue with you," She conceded, "But now I want to change my contact name for you."
"What is it now?" George asked, and Lilac chuckled.
"It's BraveryNotFound, based on the fact that you were scared to kill that bat on our Stardew stream," George's jaw dropped and he looked offended.
"And here I was thinking you were just here to say goodbye," George said, throwing up his arms. "I'm being attacked right now, this is ridiculous!" In reality, Lilac was just there to say goodbye, as her flight back to America was a little later that day. She had initially been content to just call George as not to bother Will, but the curly brunette nearly lost his mind at the suggestion ("You're going to his house to say goodbye in person, stop messing about", he said).
Will would also never say this, but he knew George and Lilac were going to take forever to say goodbye, so he'd brought a book in the car to read while he waited. He didn't mind, though; it was like watching two little fledglings learn to fly, or take their first steps.
"Well, you pick your next name if you don't like mine, then," Lilac teased, pretending to also be mad, and he shook his head.
"It's supposed to be special," He stressed. "There's no point if I make it up." Lilac shrugged.
"Then I don't know what to tell you." She couldn't keep a smile off of her face as George pretended to melt to the floor in his doorway.
"The humanity," George yelled, acting terribly as he fell to the floor, "What is the point of living if Lilac won't give me a new nickname?" Watching him writhe around on the floor for a bit had inspired her, though.
"Get up," She giggled, "I thought of a new one, Shakespeare. Relax." George popped right up as she pulled out her phone and edited his contact name according to what she'd just seen.
"Can I see?" He asked, and when Lilac tilted her screen toward him, he gave her a look.
"Get out of here," He said, jokingly pushing her toward the stairs. "Go back to America without saying goodbye, I don't care." Lilac laughed, turning back toward him and throwing her arms around him without a second thought.
"I'm going to miss this, George," She said, resting her cheek on his shoulder. He stood straight, wrapping his arms around her back and swaying just a bit.
"Miss which part?" George asked.
"All of it," Lilac said, realizing it as she said it. "But in particular, being able to come to your house and bother you in real life. Being on call is lovely, but it's not the same."
"I know," George nodded, "But at the very least, it'll make us appreciate the days we had where we could bother each other in person."
"And cook in person," Lilac added.
"And go to the beach," George said.
"And meet up with friends at a coffee shop."
"And make each other cry with really incredible gifts," George said, pulling slightly away from Lilac to look at her. "Thank you again, for that, by the way."
"Of course," Lilac chuckled, "I'm so glad you liked it, and I'm also glad we came up with that new recipe. I was telling my mom and dad about it and they're dying to try it, so it looks like you might have to come to America to cook it for them." George grinned.
