i present to you...

winter break: "happy christmas, deryah"

narrator's pov

once pansy, onyx, and luna had gotten changed, they left the room, leaving deryah to finish putting on her outer layers. she couldn't find her scarf so she spent a minute or two, throwing around her and draco's clothes trying to remember where she put it last. she tried to kill two birds with one stone, so she slipped on the other things she needed while hopping around in search of the misplaced item. hastily slipping on her black puffy jacket, deryah heard the girls call out for her from the stairs. "hurry up! the snow is melting." onyx shouted, resulting in an eye roll from deryah.

finally finding her red scarf under a pile of clothes, she rushed out the door, slightly slamming it behind her. "shut up, the snow is literally falling from the sky." she groaned, running down the stairs.

"whatever, what took you so long anyway?" onyx pestered.

"i couldn't find my scarf, but i have it now, so let's go." she dismissed, walking towards the door and opening it. stepping outside and inhaling crisp winter air, deryah suggested teams. "alright, so i say we keep it traditional and do boys against girls, eh?" she smiled, clasping her gloved hands together.

"no way, that's not fair. there's more of you than there is us." lorenzo intercepted.

"okay, but you're all tall and strong; i mean you play quidditch, you guys actually have the upper hand here." she defended.

furrowing his eyebrows, he called her out, seeing the scheme in their plan. "oh bullshit, this is some plan to make us think you're all tiny and weak because we're taller; but really you're not tiny."

deryah's face relaxed, her small grin quickly becoming a frown. her eyes began to tear up as she placed her head down. "wow, never thought you'd go there. a-are you calling me f-fat?" she stuttered, her voice cracking lightly.

the girls took notice of her saddened mood, and pansy stepped forward to wrap her arm around her to pull her into a hug. pansy sent him a scowl, causing draco and blaise to nudge him. "no! i-i- wasn't- you know what i mean- i mean not that you are tiny- i just meant- it's fine! girls against boys! no problem, case closed! i'm sorry. here, let's shake on it." he stuttered while surrendering, not wanting to cause anymore problems.

stepping forward, face full of tears, deryah shook his hand, watching his frown slowly relax. retrieving her hand, she wiped her face before turning around to wink at the girls. they all began to burst into giggle causing the boys' jaws to drop. "what-" draco choked out.

"what the hell?! isn't that like cheating?!" he pointed out.

"no it's not, it's negotiating." she smiled, rushing the girls over to their side.

sucking his teeth, he turned around and walked over to the boys side, gathering the snow they needed. they scrambled around on their separated sides, forming and grouping snow balls to be passed along. draco called out from the other side, causing the girls to stop their snowball making. "can you guys go easy on us at least, lorenzo didn't mean it!" he defended, knowing they weren't going to show any mercy on them.

"no mercy!" onyx shouted, finishing their last ball of snow. the environment immediately grew quiet. the only sounds to be heard were the crows, or the branches creaking as they tried to hold up the amounts of snow that landed onto them. the girls took this as an advantage, and pansy launched the first snow ball over onto their side.
