You have Peril. She's dangerous, fiery, socially awkward, funny, all of it. She's loyal as heck to Scarlet, the only dragon who's been "nice" to her.
Then here comes along Clay.
He's an adorable, chubby, caring cinnamon roll. He's the bigwings of the dragonets and the most loyal dragon you'll ever meat. I mean meet. ;)
Peril is Scarlet's champion, assigned to kill anyone who stands a chance of getting out. Peril's gonna have to kill him if he lives through the arena. No point getting attached. Clay knows this. But then he's nice to Peril. He talks to her, hides her so she can eavesdrop, relates with her, even lets her pour a cauldron of boiling mud on his back.
Peril's been told that she's an evil killer all her life. But Clay comes along and tells her that she can chose her destiny. That she can be so much more than that.
Of course Peril is gonna fall for him!
About the ship in particular, I think that if there's any dragon in Pyrrhia that deserves Clay, it's Peril. They're perfect for each other! Peril is socially awkward, on fire, and willing to kill. Clay is the most social dragon you'll ever meet, fire proof, and the kindest dragon ever. Their personalities compliment each other. They're absolutely adorable!
The biggest problem, is that Clay's book is the very first book. That means that we'll never know exactly how he feels about Peril! Grrr!
Well, that's pretty much all I have to say about Cleril.
