Alright, I have to admit, at first I really hated Sunlow.
Sundew was this angry, tough dragon that seemingly loved no one and would kill anyone who got in her way. She struck me as the type that would fall for no one, or at least a very special someone.
But then, (and I quote), "I mean, sure, Luna is great and I know he just got her back and all and I get it; I have a one true love, too."
What!? Did Sundew just say that!? I was so confused when I read that! But I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. This is Wings of Fire after all. Every important dragon falls in love at some point.
But either way, she says that at the beginning of The Hive Queen, and then there's hardly anything on it the whole rest of the book.
But then we get to Sundew's book.
It's so vague in the beginning, but we can still tell right away that she's definitely in love. And then they travel through the Poison Jungle, blah blah blah, they have to save the world, blah blah blah.
And then she sneaks out.
And then we meet Willow.
And I am not a fan.
I can't really put the reasons why I didn't like Sunlow into words, I just did. It didn't have much development, and Willow just didn't strike me as someone that Sundew would fall for. Stuff like that.
And I've been hating on it for a while.
But then I reread the books, and I've been looking into the ship more. And the more I look into it, the more I grow fond of it.
Sure, it doesn't have much development, but we do have the backstory. And it took place long enough ago that the development is implied. And I mean, come on. A grumpy, fiery PoisonWing sneaks out and runs into a SapWing that is almost the exact opposite of her. Sundew's fire, and Willow's water.
Sundew keeps sneaking out to meet Willow, and they become quick friends. And then they become more than that. They become secret, forbidden lovers.
Come on, it's hard not to fall in love with that.
But there's only one problem.
And I'm gonna save it for the next chapter.
'Cause I'm mean like that.
But either way, I've grown to love Sunlow. It's adorable and their practically perfect for each other.
Almost.
Thank you.
