CHAPTER 40

JOY WAS not in the mood that day. She has been acting so listless and uninterested physically. But truth is, she's the total opposite inside.

There was a surging storm behind her  facade. She was mentally and emotionally restless. And Joy has no idea how to deal with it! She was distressed and frustrated.

It's been two days since Curse changed. Yes! He changed and was acting so strange that really bothers her!

Before, he wouldn't mind leaving his phone anywhere, but for the past days, he seemed to take it wherever he goes! Not just that! He's constantly receiving hundreds of calls in a day! Is that even normal? No! Clearly, it's not! Something's really off with her husband.

Joy has been observing his actions lately like an undercover spy, which is wrong. She should trust Curse, but after days of spying on him, she's even more distressed. She wanted to cry!

Who wouldn't if on a daily basis, everytime her husband receives a call, he would stay as far as possible from her? Like he has some secret behind her back. Curse was even smiling while talking to whoever the damn it is on the other side of the phone!

At first, she thought that Curse acting so unusual was just an empty assumption. And it was just her jealousy-- her hormones who is at fault  for her mood swings and emotional impulses as well! But seems like she's so wrong! Not to mention how Curse sneaked out last night, thinking that she's already asleep when she's not! And Joy was literally crying until darkness succumbed her.

When she woke up, the brute even got some nerves to kiss her, good morning like he did nothing wrong! He was grinning from ear to ear, while she wanted to howl in tears!

Joy doesn't know what to do, but she has to talk to her husband! It's for her sanity! Mababaliw na kasi siya kakaisip!

She lazily threw the sheets away from her body. She got up from the bed and Curse? She has no idea wherever the corner of hell is he wandering! Wala siyang pakealam! Siguro kausap na naman nito ang kaharutan sa telepono! Bwisit!

Unconsciously, she sobbed and started to cry helplessly. Nagloloko na naman ba ang asawa niya? Iiwan na ba siya nito? Bakit ngayon pa?

With heavy steps, she trampled towards the bathroom. She was crying like a lost kitten, opening the door; then slamming it behind.

Inside, she cried her heart out and stared herself at the mirror. Lalo siyang pumalahaw ng iyak nang makita niya ang kaniyang pagmumukha!

Is this the reason why Curse was looking for another woman? Kaya ba ito naghahanap dahil pangit na siya?

On the reflection, she saw a woman who looked like an old hag! Her face was swollen from crying. And she was looking like a total disaster! Joy was a sobbing mess!

She gasped for air and continued her ear piercing and heartbreaking howls inside the bathroom. Joy switched on the faucet and bowed her head. Gently, she washed her ugly crying face with the water. Then, she took a towel to dry it.

Seeing her reflection, Joy felt even more miserable. Ang pangit, pangit ko na, kaya siguro siya naghahanap ng iba! Humihikbing bulong niya pa sa sarili na lalong nagpa-iyak sa kaniya. Tila siya batang awang-awa sa sarili pagkatapos hindi mabilhan ng gustong laruan.

Though she was extremely heartbroken, Joy brushed her teeth. She did her daily skincare routine in front of the mirror while still sobbing. Because skincare is life! She cried in her thoughts.

She was already done changing into a summer dress when her husband entered the room with a tray of food.

Joy made a long face.
