Chapter 2

Y/N's POV

I was walking with Peggy towards the recruits.

"I know you're brother is part of this team, but he will receive the same training as everyone else. Don't expect me to go easy on him" Peggy said.

"If I'm being completely honest Peggy, he'd feel bad if you went easier on him and not the rest"

"Which one is your brother ?" She said as we got closer to the soldiers.

"The short blond haired one. His name is Steve" She gave me a slight look of confusion.

"Erskine recommended him ?"

"Yes"

"And he's older than you"

"Technically... Yes"

We arrived in front of the recruits and Peggy started introducing us.

"Gentlemen, I am Agent Carter. This is Agent Rogers. We will supervise all operations for this division"

"What's with the accent, Queen Victoria ? I thought I was signing up for the U.S. army" Said one of the men making fun of Peggy.

I was about to punch him, but Peggy put her arm in front of me to stop me from beating the man.

"What's your name Soldier ?" She said calmly.

"Gilmore Hodge, your majesty"

"Step forward Hodge"

The man stepped forward and winked at Peggy.

"Put your right foot forward"

He did as he was told and before he could make another dumb joke Peggy punched him, making him fall to the floor.

"Agent Carter"

Colonel Philips walked towards us and we saluted him.

"I can see that you are breaking in the candidates. That's good !"

The colonel looked at Hodge

"Get your ass out of the dirt"

As Hodge tried getting up I kicked his legs making him fall again.

I was sitting in a car with Peggy and an officer as we watched the recruits running. Steve was behind the group and was struggling to breathe.

"Squad halt ! Whoever gets this flag down from the pole will get a ride back to the camp with Agent Rogers and Agent Carter"

They all tried to climb on the pole, but they kept falling. After a couple seconds, they all got back in formation and continued running.

Steve approached the pole and unlocked the locket at the bottom making the pole fall and retrieving the flag easily.

He walked towards the car and sat in the back.

"You have more brains than all of them that's for sure" I said jokingly.

The car started and we drove towards the camp.

"Oh I almost forgot. Peggy this is my brother Steve, Steve this is my good friend Peggy Carter"

They both shook hands.

Steve was trying to do push-ups with the rest of his team, but he was obviously struggling.

"Faster Ladies ! Come on" Peggy told the soldiers.

Dr Erskine and the colonel looked at the soldiers from afar. I walked towards them.

"Colonel, Doctor" I said greeting both of them.

"Are you sure you're related to him ?" Asked the colonel pointing at Steve

"Yes, sir. He may not look like it, but he's worth more than most of your cowardly soldiers"

"We'll see about that" Said the colonel as he threw a fake grenade at the group.

All the soldier ran away from the grenade. Steve unlike the others, jumped on top of the bomb. The bomb never exploded and we realized it was a fake. Steve got up looking shocked.

The colonel looked at both me and Erskine before leaving the area.

I was in a car with Peggy and Steve. Peggy was sitting in between Steve and I. We were driving towards the secret lab in which Steve would receive the Super-Soldier Serum. He had been chosen for the program at the Expo by Erskine himself.

"I know this neighbourhood. I got beat up in that alley, and that parking lot and behind that diner" Steve said, pointing at things outside.

"Did you have something against running away ?" Peggy asked him.

"You start running they'll never let you stop. You stand up, you push back. They can't say no forever, right ?"

"Each time Bucky and I tried to help him, he'd always tell us that he could have beaten his attackers by himself" I added.

After a brief moment of silence, Steve started talking to Peggy.

"I guess I just don't know why you'd want to join the army if you were a beautiful dame. Or a... Woman. An agent. Not a dame. You are beautiful but..."

"You have no Idea how to talk to a woman do you ?"

"Not counting Y/N, this is the longest conversation I've had with one"

"I am so sorry Peggy. He has absolutely no idea how to flirt. Please forgive him" I said.

"It's all right" She said with a smile.

We arrived at our destination and we got out of the car. We entered an antique shop, where an old woman welcomed us.

"Wonderful weather this morning, isn't it ?" The woman asked.

"Yes, but I always carry an umbrella" I told her before she pressed a button under her desk and a secret door opened.

We walked trough a long hallway before arriving to the lab where Erskine, Stark and other scientists were waiting for us.

"Peggy we should go to the booth upstairs, we'll be more comfortable" I said to Peggy.

"Yes, let's go"

"Good luck Steve" I gave him a quick hug before following Peggy to the booth.

We all watched as Steve stepped inside a machine. Nurses were injecting something in his arm.

Erskine was explaining what he was about to do, before walking next to Steve and counting down.

Several liquids were injected in Steves arms and the pod he was in began to close and emit light. As the light became brighter and brighter, Steve began to scream in pain.

Surprisingly, Peggy got up from her seat and told the doctors to stop. As Stark was about to shut down the machines, Steve told them to continue.

After a couple of seconds, the machine opened to reveal a much taller Steve.

Peggy and I walked towards him.

"How do you feel ?" Asked Peggy.

"Taller"

"Wow Steve, now you really look like my older brother" I said.

He put a hand on my head.

"Thank you for supporting me all those years. This wouldn't have happened without your help" He said.

Just as Erskine was about to continue talking, the booth we were in moments prior exploded. A man took the last vial of serum and shot Erskine.

As the man tried to escape, Peggy managed to shoot his shoulder.

Both Steve and I ran up to Erskine. He barely had time to look at Steve, before he closed his eyes and never opened them again.

Steve ran outside and followed Erskine's killer who had stolen a taxi and was getting away.
