On his way home, he decides to take the long way back in hopes of clearing his head and reigning in his emotions. He doesn't want his mom to see him how he is now.

He hates Bakugou. Bakugou has everything and all he does is use it to hurt and maim. His freshly broken nose throbs in agreement.

To him, being a hero is just hurting the villains and aiming to surpass All Might. He doesn't want to rescue or protect. He just wants to burn the opposition to ash.

He despises people like him. People only hungry for power and willing to crush and burn those beneath them to do it.

In his opinion, those are the real villains. People who hunger for power are the most dangerous because they are reckless in their blind pursuit of glory.

When Izuku walks under a bridge, he's too wrapped up in his rage to notice the gurgling sound behind him.

However, when he hears the clattering of a manhole covering, his instincts and training kick in, and he's saved from being grabbed by...is that slime?

God, quirks were fucking weird. And from what he could smell other than the scent of blood in his nose, this one reeked.

"You'll be the perfect skinsuit for me to hide in, kid. Just make it easier for both of us and don't fight back. It'll only hurt for a minute." The sludge villain said with a sick grin filled with rotting yellow teeth.

Yeah, like that'll happen.

Now, Izuku has been training since he was four. He could take down fully grown adults since he was seven. He's been analyzing quirks for just as long. Naturally, all that training built him up for situations exactly like this. Despite his opponent being made of liquid, he could either look for weak points or evade. He had options. He could handle this.

With the swish of an incoming strike from the villain, Izuku chose to evade. Even with his near-constant training and evaluation of fights, it was still hard to determine exactly how the Sludge villain would move. Izuku had never had the pleasure of sparring with someone who didn't have a body. However, even with his inexperience with this type of opponent, the sludge villain seemed to move in ways that suggested he was used to having a bipedal form.

To anyone looking on from the outside, it would look as if Izuku was dancing. He was a blur. He was fast, yes, but he knew he would be caught if he turned and ran away in a straight line. He needed to keep the villain in his sights.

Seemingly fed up with how long it was taking, the villain started talking again.

"Come on, kid. I gotta get out of here fast. I didn't know he was in the city. I gotta get a move on before he tracks me down."

Well, shit. So sorry for the inconvenience.

The sludge villain pauses and then snarls, and he realizes that he said that out loud. The living pile of goop seems to double his efforts in trying to capture him. He hopes he can wrap this up soon, breathing through a broken nose feels gross and hurts.

As soon as he thinks that, there's a loud thud from behind the sludge villain and Izuku sees the manhole cover fly up behind the villain's head. The villain whips around to face a new threat, and Izuku begins to turn away to use the opportunity to run.

Someone says something that he can't hear over the sound of the sludge's yelling when suddenly he's thrown back as the villain explodes before his very eyes. The hole that opens up in the slime seems to form in slow motion. He sees All Might on the other side, fist raised and expression morphing from one of anger and annoyance, into one of horror.
