It had been hard at first, trying to fall asleep in an unfamiliar place. The quiet darkness of the room had done nothing to prevent Izuku's mind from wandering back to the horrors that had occurred in the last week. He wished he could be somewhere else.
Before he realized what had happened, he opened his eyes to a familiar place. It wasn't the same infinite darkness as before, but rather an exact replica of his old apartment that he shared with his mother. The only reason he realized that he wasn't actually there was because of the same almost weightless feeling, and the presence of the five immortals lounging around in his living room participating in various activities.
Both Nemesis and Reaper seemed to be in a heated debate over something in a book they were reading. They were each taking turns snatching the document from each other's hands to fact-check the other's argument.
Leviathan, oddly enough, seemed to be participating in a game of chess against himself. Izuku saw him hunched over their old board while muttering to himself quietly.
That brought him back to the two youngest Immortals. Night Fury and Fenris were laying in front of the TV, playing Mario Kart.
None of them had noticed his appearance, yet so he announced himself by clearing his throat. He did nothing to hide the amused expression on his face as all five immortals slowly turned to see him standing in the doorway. They looked embarrassed, which Izuku found incredibly funny.
"Is this what you guy's do all day when you aren't talking to me?" He said while holding back his laughter. Both Nemesis and Reaper began speaking at the same time.
"No."
"Pretty much."They said in unison and then proceeded to glare at each other. Izuku noticed that their voices had lost the weird, echoey quality that they usually possessed. They sounded closer to him.
"If you require an explanation, we come here while we sleep to learn more about how your world works. We can see your memories to learn more about you, what you've been through, and how you fight." Nemesis said.
"When we talk to you while you're awake, usually that is when we are awake as well. We take shifts keeping an eye on you, but for us, it's like being in a room with a television on. It isn't hard for us to see what is happening on your end." Reaper said, and then proceeded to snatch the book from Nemesis's hands.
"Oh okay..." Izuku said. That was a little weird, but he could understand that.
"What are you guys reading about?" He asked and moved closer to read the title. He was able to see it while both Nemesis and Reaper struggled to shove it under a couch cushion.
"Parenting for Dummies, huh." Izuku smiled. He remembered seeing that book in his mother's closet when he was younger. She explained to him that when Hisashi found out she was pregnant, he left her without any clue of what to do.
"Yes, uh. Well. It's an interesting read." Reaper tried to play it off.
"Nemesis sure does call me 'My child' a lot. Wonder what that's all about." Izuku said and smirked as they both struggled to find an excuse. For some devastatingly powerful beings, they sure were easy to tease.
"Well, you are quite young...you would still be considered an infant to our kind. The title just slips out sometimes." She said.Fenris interrupted her floundering by switching the topic. Their game had ended with him as the victor and Night Fury was pouting.
"Didn't you want him to train while he was here? Or at least see if it's something he could do?" He said while twisting around to look at the two eldest.
