Anakin had actually taken a bath on free will. He wanted to get the dirt off, that had stuck to him for days.

And he already was wet and cold anyway.

Afterwards he was all to glad to get down to the fire.

Carefully scooping Ahsoka up in his arms he enjoyed to feel warmth for a change, and get a meal.

She still was pale and in a severly weakened state, but at least this bad state was stable.

As long as she would survive, it was okay, right?

Anakin couldn't do else, then hug her tight, glad to see her again.

Rex climbed down after him, not closing the door yet.

"I'll just be off again, trying to find some more herbs" he said, before climbing right back out.

Anakin closed the door with the force.

Rex, bless him the force, hadn't said the complete truth.

He was going to pick up some herbs on the way back, sure.

But actually he came to see Ahu.

Ahu had become his stone in the breaching waves that he faced down here. She gave him short moments of serenity and peace.

Just like always, she waited at the little patch of plants, that even while the rest of the forest drowned in orange, red and brown, still managed to stay green.

Ahu had become accustomed to Rex, and didn't run away from him. Opposite, as soon as he approached she came up to him, rubbing her head against his hand and sometimes chewing a big on the edge of his sleeve.

Rex petted her, sitting down on the big stone, just like the days before, and Ahu laid her head down on his lap, enjoying the company.

He really cared for the little animal, that unknowingly had done so much to keep him sane.

He rubbed her neck, her back, staying clear of her injured side.

Of her... injured side?

To his confusion the wound on her side was... gone?

How hadn't he noticed that earlier?

There still had no furr grown back, only bare skin, but the once infected and giant wound, somehow had healed.

Now that he thought about it, hadn't it looked quite scabbed over the past days?

Right it had...

But how? It was just as infected as Ahsoka injury. And Ahsoka was slowly dying of it.

His gave went upwards, towards the suspiciously green patch.

The patch Ahu had spent all her time lately, rolling on the ground, rubbing her side against it... no, not against the ground.

Anakin and Obi-Wan both shot up into a straight position, as Rex halfway fell down into the hole, his arms full of leaves.

"Take her bandage off and get a new one" he shouted out of breath.

"What?" Obi-Wan asked perplex, Anakin only hesitating a moment, before doing what Rex had ordered.

"Take the fire out so we have space" Rex ordered Obi-Wan, who after a moment to catch himself, obliged and afterwards used the force, to clear the ground of remaining ashes.

Anakin had grabbed bandage and some disinfectant, having but the points together, what was up with the leaves.

Undoing the bandage around Ahsokas leg, hope rose in him.

Could they actually, finally save her?
