The next day was cutting the meat from the animal Anakin had finally caught.
The young Jedi could see her gaze wander off to the sun every once in a while, but she seemed okay.
A little bit exhausted though.
Sweat was running down her face.
He didn't knew how she really was.
Ahsoka felt tired.
She felt absolutely tired.
She needed all her strength to hold her eyes open.
And she felt so cold.
She knew her skin was burning hot.
She had to make sure Anakin wasn't coming near to her, or he would realise it.
How ill she really was.
Her Hand shook violently as she tried to draw the knife through the skin of the animal.
She had to be careful. To not to destroy it.
But she couldn't keep her Hand still.
She flinched a little, when the blade cut in her own skin, because she wasn't careful enough.
But gladly it wasn't deep.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked up to the sun.
"I'm so seeing you tomorrow. Don't you dare challenge me." she told the gleaming ball of light.
Then she draw her attention back to the dead animal.
She hat cut off quite a bit of meat.
Time to get it to the frame, so that it can smoke.
She pulled herself up and grabbed the meat.
Wiping away a bit more sweat and putting on the most painless gaze she could, before she turned around.
Anakin sat there, still watching her.
She had forbidden him to cut the meat.
She couldn't let him see how exhausted she really was.
Rex was there too. He watched her carefully.
He still had in mind, what she told him two days ago.
He knew that she would probably collapse somewhen today.
That's why he was so overprotective.
Hopefully that didn't make Anakin suspicious.
She limped a few steps.
Suddenly a sharp peak of pain shot up her leg.
She gave a small noise of pain, before loosing her balance.
Thankfully Rex caught her in time.
Her breath went heavy.
But the leg that made her fall wasn't the infected one.
Rex carefully sat her down and she removed the boot from her foot.
Her ankle felt like hell.
"Oh come on..." she mumbled.
What once was just sprained, now seemed more of broken.
Anakin rushed over.
"You're okay Snips?" he asked.
"Jep" she answered, trying her best to keep the pain out of her voice.
Rex kneeled beside her and carefully laid a hand on her ankle.
She let out a hiss of pain.
"I think you broke it." he stated the obvious.
"Well that's what happens when you walk around with two injured legs, even though you should sit down and rest." Anakin scolded her.
Rex and Ahsoka just looked at each other, relieved that it was just her ankle.
Both of them thought she was going to collapse now.
Both of them feared it would be her end.
Rex carefully lifted her up and carried her over to the fire.
Anakin pushed one of the brenches away and instead laid the purr-blanket there, so that Rex could put down Ahsoka there.
The young Jedi picked up the piece of fabric he already used once for that, damped it into the river amd came back to lay it over Ahsokas hurt ankle.
Rex stopped him.
"I'm doing this. Can you maybe take care of the meat?"
Anakin nodded and handed him the fabric.
Rex sat down beside Ahsoka, carefully placing the wet fabric over her wound.
The girl hissed when the cold touched her skin, but didn't stop him.
"You have no idea how relieved I am" Rex silently told her.
"I'm as well." she replied.
"As much as I see there is no way around, I just don't want to die."
He smiled. "We still have a chance. It still may be that somebody will rescue us in time."
She nodded and looked down.
"Rex" she mumbled.
"I'm afraid."
