Feeling Alive

These past few weeks have flown by me as i shakily stood with my head held low, gaze on the ground. The world has been racing around me and I find myself slowing down, watching it pass me by without a care.
I stood at my desk today, phone in hand, my book bag weighing down my already aching back. I was half listening to a story Tara and Jasmine were talking about, but I couldn't focus on it long enough.
So I slowly let myself slip away, the world slowing, my face growing emotionless, my body buzzing with comfort at the numbness that blanketed me.
I wasn't even aware of the fact that you were trying to walk behind me, until I felt your hand gently press against my side, slipping down to touch my waist.
Liquid fire from your fingers ignited emotions in my body that I hadn't felt in a long time. It was a magical and wonderful feeling. Your hand ever so gently touching my side made my eyes open and my lips tremble.
I turned and caught your gaze as you stared down at me, a soft frown on your face. Your beautiful brown eyes had my knees growing weak as I struggled to breath.
The funny thing was, this encounter only lasted but a total of seven seconds.
In seven seconds you made me feel alive.
Before you took your hand away, broke eye contact, and left me feeling more empty than ever before.
