Chapter 8

As my body started to wake up, I felt something warm on my hip. I lifted my head to see Gladion's hand draped over it and his head was near where mine was. I chuckled softly and laid my head back down as it was only 3 am and fell back asleep, snuggling closer to Gladion. He let out a sigh and held me tighter, not realizing who he was touching. We both fell asleep and were woken up by the harsh sunlight. I lifted my head and Gladion was still sleeping but we had to get moving. I gently kissed his cheek to wake him up and he stirred and opened his eyes.
     "Morning Noni." He murmured and then realized how close we were. He sat up quickly and let go of me and was red as a tomato berry. I laughed softly and sat up as well. He avoided my gaze and quickly packed up his things. I gently touched his arm and he looked at me.
     "That was nice." I said.
     "W-what was nice?" He asked nervously.
     "You holding me last night. It felt nice to have someone who cares about me." He widened his eyes and clasped my hand.
     "What about your family? They care about you very much. Unlike mine." He looked away and my hear broke for him. I tilted his chin upward and he gasped.
     "But they're not you. I have my family and friends but they're not like you." I said with a soft smile. His eyes softened and he leaned forward. I leaned forward, my heart beating a hundred miles a minute, and gently touched his lips with my own. Lightning coursed through my veins and I pulled back. He tilted his head and I avoided his troubled gaze. I packed up my things and returned Glaceon. Just as I was about to leave, Gladion caught my shoulder and I turned my head.
     "I'm sorry Noni, I just wasn't thinking. Heck I don't even know if you like me that way or not." He stopped talking and took a deep breath.
     "What do you mean?" I asked, clearly knowing what he meant.
     "I-" He said and then Hau bursted through the tent flap. He looked confused at why both of us were avoiding each other's gazes.
    "Uh are you guys okay?" Hau asked and we both nodded, still avoiding gazes. Hau looked unconvinced and shrugged. "Lillie and I have got everything packed so we're just waiting on you guys."
     "Okay we'll be out there in just a sec." I said and Hau left the flap. I turned to Gladion. "What was it you were trying to tell me?" I asked him. He shook his head and continued to pack his things. I sighed and finished packing mine. We dragged our things outside and I packed the tent. Hau was chattering excitedly to Lillie and she was nodding and blushing. I walked over to Lillie with a smirk on my face and tapped her shoulder. She squeaked and Hau and Gladion started to giggle. Lillie huffed at me and strode from the beach into Wela Volcano Park. I sighed and ran after her with Gladion and Hau chasing me too. We had all already passed the Memele Island challenge and Lana's trial so our next stop was Wela Volcano Park.
     "Here we are." I said and Gladion came next to me and gently put his arm over my shoulder.
     "Let's beat this one and move onto Mallow's trial so then we can go see Kahuna Olivia!" Hau said and all three of us dashed into the park after Lillie.
