"Where were you last night?"

"In bed, where else?" She acted to be ignorant and nonchalantly slid under the covers.

"You know, at about past midnight." Swati elaborated as she sat upright on the bed.

"No one stays awake by that time." Still Mehek acted to be uninterested and made herself comfortable on the bed ready to sleep.

She had a very long day with Mohan and Sonal helping her to study, accumulating so much in such a short time was never her forte. She snuggled in, preparing to sleep.

"Exactly, di. Who leaves home past midnight and goes out with a really hot guy in a red car, then come back extremely late yet still talk till they fall asleep?" Mehek easily recognized that Swati knew about her night meeting with Shaurya, as well as their night call right after, still she feigned ignorance.

She knew just how much Swati was going to tease her. She only shrugged, "I don't know. Who does that?" She covered her face with the blanket and faced the opposite side.

Swati pulled the covers away, "And that is the look on your face when you get caught." Mehek sighed and gave up. She sat upright on the bed.

"Okay fine, but Shaurya couldn't sleep. I was only helping."

"Awwn, that's so cute. I'm really happy for you two." Swati was quick to jump into conclusion, surprising Mehek.

"What are you happy about? There's nothing between us but friendship." She immediately defended knowing her di was already thinking quite the opposite.

"For now."

"Nope. Shaurya is already taken. He is devoted to a relationship, do whatever. And besides, I don't like him that way." Swati was only teasing but she was sure to pick the unsure tone of Mehek.

"Yh, you sacrifice your sleep for random guys." Mehek rolled her eyes, deciding not to ponder to much on it. He was her friend and everyone else was talking nonsense.

"Think whatever you want but Shaurya and I are just friends. But you know what the real question is..." Swati turned to her curiously and her silence urged Mehek to continue, "What exactly is going on between you and Mohan?" She scooted closer to Swati.

She didn't fail to notice the growing bond between the pair as he visited most of the time for 'projects'.

"Nothing... And you know what? I'm sleepy, so good night." She tried to dodge but Mehek held her back, happy to be the one teasing for a change. "I know you two like each other. He involves you even in our most casual conversations."

Swati smiled, "Unlike you, I am not ashamed to admit that I like him, yet there is nothing between us."

"For now." It was now Swati's turn to roll her eyes and tried to cover herself, still Mehek pulled the covers.

"You know, you both are so alike, you both scold me even when I'm the right one. And like you, he says he's helping me."

"Because he is."

"I knew you'd take his side." She feigned annoyance and folded her arms. Swati laughed and made her lay down despite her resistance.

"Just the same way, you'd take Shaurya's side even when he's wrong. Good night." She also lay down, covering them with the blanket and turning off the light.

"I never said I liked Shaurya." She recovered from the initial shock.

"Good night, Mehek."

"Just so you know, I don't like Shaurya."
