"I hope you're feeling better." Mehek sighed in response. "As long she's fine." She placed her hand on her mum's hand. Sarita had fallen asleep a while back and she went back to Shaurya.

She was surprised he waited all the while for her and it only made her heart flutter.

Both sat on the chair close to the bed. Luckily it was comfortable enough for two.

"You love her very much, don't you?"

"More than my own life." She withdrew her hand and rested in the chair. He watched as she sighed softly playing with her fingers. "I've never seen you that way before." He looked away as if trying to hide the sadness etched in his features. "I didn't think I'd ever."

She smiled to lighten the mood, "You felt fulfilled?"

"Hurt." He clarified and turned to her. "I felt hurt." He let the words out, not minding how they came out, what they meant; what mattered was that they were from the heart. "Why?"

"You're my friend. You mean a lot to me." She leaned in when he cupped her cheeks, stroking softly with the soft pads of his thumb. She closed her eyes, savoring the warmth.

"Your dad." Her eyes shot open in remembrance. "What about your dad, Shaurya? You said he was mad and-"

"It's okay." He cut her off, "I'll see him tomorrow." His priority now was her, nothing more, not even his dad's anger scaled it. "He'll be more angry if he finds out the reason why." She stated lowering her gaze from him.

She understood that him being friends with her was risking his relationship with his dad, but here he was, putting her first. "I'll make something up. Forget about me, let's worry about you."

Here he was putting her first before anything else. She smiled, amazed at his care. She hugged him unexpectedly, taking him by surprise.

"Thank you so much." He was too surprised to react at first, but the rate at which his heart beat accelerated was what scared him.

"For what?"

"Everything." He lowers his hand, wrapping them around her as he hugged back tightly. And so does she. Soon after, he breaks the hug withdrawing from her.

He reached in to his pocket and brought out a chocolate bar. "You must be hungry."

"You carry one of those in your pocket everyday?" She quirked her brows, amused.
"For damsels in distress." He managed to make her giggle softly, "Besides I know how much you love chocolates." She didn't know if it was flattery or he really meant it but it sure made her feel special. He always made her feel special.

He carefully opened and handed it to her, despite her hesitation.
"I wanted to thank you earlier." She broke the peaceful silence after a while. "For helping my sister, really, I can't thank you enou-"

He placed a finger on her lips and she gulped lightly as he stared her deep in her eye. "Stop thanking me."

"You're so sweet." She found herself saying before she could rethink, but she didn't mind. She was loving his every gesture. He had definitely made an impact on her, storing a special place for himself in her heart. As a friend, she reminded herself. A well trusted one.

"I'm really glad you're better, I got scared." He felt the need to repeat it, to let her know how much affected he was. "You got something, Mehek."

"Something?"

"Yeah." He gestured to the spot close to her lips. "A smudge, right there."

"Ohh." She mouthed in realization, attempting to clean the mystery smear on her cheeks she couldn't see. "You missed the spot."
